  1. More than you would think if you cut from a round !!
  2. You want to back braid through what you have already braided. I don't know how to explain it. But when i did a search this is the closest thing thing i found to explain how to do it. http://www.yalecordage.com/pdf/brait_eye_splice.pdf and you can look here and probley find out how to do it. http://kingsmerecrafts.com/
  3. Here is his profile http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showuser=12 and his website is down at the bottom of the page. He explains how do some of the things he does on his website.
  4. Get a piece of poster board and start drawing and you will have a pattern. It doesn't look like theirs much to it. I bet you could draw your pattern in about 15 or 20 minutes tops.
  5. No where i did say not to post. What i said was i didn't want to see every thing he had ever made. I counted 21 post of his showing things he had made. One page was nothing but things he had made. I use veiw new content button in the top right hand corner of all of the pages and it shows every thing that has been posted. Now i looked in each form i would of never seen any of them because i don't go to the show off part. Now if any of you think i'm some kind of cyber bully report me to a moderator !!
  6. My repliey was for / to coiledup.
  7. I like seeing what other people make ! But when i look on a page and every thing on it is from one person showing the same thing but a different color or design it gets old. I really doubt you would want to see every thing i have made the last couple of weeks because a lot of it the same thing but a different color or has a different pattern on it. Or i started putting pictures of every thing i have made over the last 25 years that would get old in a hurry to.
  8. I know your proud of what you make and have made. But i really don't want to see everything you have ever made and i don't mean that in a bad way so please don't take it that way.
  9. Whats PU leather ???
  10. Try wetting the backside and put something heavy on them. Might try it on one first to make sure it works.
  11. On the third of January i got a new stamp made by her company looks great and works great. I will be happy to recommend her business.
  12. You can use a cup, plate or anything else that has been fired to sharpen a knife. Use the part that has no glaze on the bottom it works. I tried it after i seen a movie on you tube where they did that. It does leave a black mark on what ever your using. I think you can do the same thing with the back of a ceramic tile.
  13. When you call ask them if they will cut a piece off and send to you. That way you can try it before you buy some.
  14. You can put a single edge safety razor blade in a vise and break it off. I've done that a few times after seeing where a guy did it on here. Sometimes it works better than others brakeing the blade.
  15. I have got more use from them by using a buffing wheel on a grinder to slick up the edge. Their kinda tricky to hold though
  16. I guess i do mine different than anybody. Most of the time i do my burnishing after i come in from the shop setting on the couch watching TV. I use a wet sponge to dampen ( not wet but damp ) the edge and the use a piece of deer antler to burnish with and finish up up a piece of cardboard off of a cereal, cracker, or beer box for the final polish. Sometimes i go back over it with antler piece after it has dried. Oh i do use paste saddle sometimes on a dyed black piece sometimes it makes all the difference in a good burnish. Like others have said try em all and use what works best for you.
  17. You could try a wire wheel on a buffer that might eat the edge up enough to get the look you want.
  18. Trox are their any trade schools around that teach machineing ? Making a blade would be a good project for them.
  19. You could cut some plugs out of wood that fit inside the horns and screw from the inside of your helment imto the plugs.
  20. You can get a 1/4 bag punch Osborn from Ohio Travel bag. I think it's 40.00. Chief is right if their not perfectly straight they look really bad. I would make a cardboard pattern to lay them out with.
  21. Trox take it to a machine shop and have them make a blade for you. I had to have one made years ago.
  22. Gregg your a 100% right it is a picture of a Highlead machine. I figured they were all about the same. I learned something new today and that's a good thing.
  23. Call some of the dealers they may have a junker laying around that they can take the plate off of.
  24. billymac painting the celeing will help a lot. You could make some reflectors for you lights. Fluorescent light used to come with or the one that hung down did. I have plugs in the celeing in my shop just so i can move light around if i want to move a work station. Another thing you can try is day light bulbs they are brighter than the regular ones and cost the same or not much more.
