Cobra 3 Machine Not Stitching
dirtclod replied to WashingtonCross's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I don't know if has anything to do with your problem or not. But where you have the thread run through the side wire loop twice i come down the back make one a half loops on the disk and come out the wire guide once. Been doing it that way for 20 years and it works fine. Like i said it may have nothing to do with your problem but it's easy to check. -
Try goggle translator see if that helps.

Two things that jump right out to me is the white lining and different angles on your basket weave. Personally i wouldn't use a white lining some shade of brown would look better to me. The basket weave in the holster is no where close to being on the same angle as the belt, it's almost straight up and down. Somewhere close to the same angle that's on the belt looks a lot better to me. Ever thing else good good.

Trace you saw out on paper or what ever. The add 3/8 inch all the way around. That will be your cutting pattern. Cut your leather. After you cut it out cut your pattern 5/16 inch on the 3/8's line and that will be your welt to keep from cutting stitches when you take it and put it in

A one piece one might work. Like you said try and find out. As far as cutting a piece off i would think a parting tool ( that may be the wrong name for it anyway what you use to cut a piece when the lathe is turning would work. )

I have a couple. 1 When you ask for help and somebody is trying to help, don't act they don't know what their talking about and blow them off. Because they just might not help anymore when you finally figure out they knew what they were talking about. 2 Don't be one of the people that just shows up when you have something finished wanting the AT A BOYS or GIRLS and are never seen again till you have something else done again.

You can get the thread here the phone number is on the page.http://www.ferdco.com/content.php?page_id=27 I ordered some thread from this guy, seems like a nice guy and got order out quick. They don't call it pheasant anymore or the last i got from Ferdco wasn't called that it was Leghorn color. It looks to be the same color to me.

I'd use the measurement they sent as the fist hole as far smallness maybe one before it just to make sure it's small enough and then put one or two more past.

How Do You All Handle Shipping?
dirtclod replied to SooperJake's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
They do charge by the weight and zip code on the priority mail boxes now. I just looked and it cost me 6.20 to send a package to Cali. that weighted 13 oz. I charge a flat 6.00 to mail some cost a little more some area little cheaper, i figure it all evens out in the end. You still get delivery conformation or tracking as their calling it now. The post office delivers the boxes for free. Their isn't much difference in the size of the 1097 and 1092 but i can put a longer / bigger piece in the 1092. Most of my stuff weighs a pound or less. Chief i get my bubble wrap off ebay it's quite a bit cheaper than buying it in a store. I generally get 3 or 4 rolls at a time. Eaglestroker i package my things good to i don't want them to get a project when they order something. No i don't do any fancy wrapping paper. But things are wrapped and then bubble wrapped. That's the same way i have packaged things for the last 10 years that i have sold on line never have had a complaint on the packaging that i know of. I don't understand why anybody would scrounge up a box when they can get nice free boxes from the post office unless it won't fit in a priority mail box. -

I use USPS 1092 and 1097 boxes for 99% of what i mail. The 1092 and 1097 you have to weigh. I'm not into to ripping customers off on using flat rate boxes when i can use the others and save them money. The flat rate boxes have their place and i do use them for a big order again to save the customer money. I hate getting ripped when somebody else uses flat rate when they could use a regular box for 2 to 3 dollars cheaper. Guess it boils down to do you like or care about your customer enough to make the choice between what cost less for them. -
Gun Shows An Option?
dirtclod replied to buzzkiller's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Yes take credit cards !! I lost a 300.00 sale last year because i couldn't take them. The man's wife had the money but he wouldn't buy because he wanted to use a credit card. The next show i was at i made sure i could take a credit card and it has paid off. -
Gun Shows An Option?

A tip for any type of show. Bring your own food and drinks. Don't depend on their being something to eat or drink there, plus you save money and won't have to leave your table to get something to eat or drink. -
Do you mean leather to buck stitch with ?
-
They screwed that one up for sure !! I sharpen mine on the skiver. I turn the blade around sharp side facing me and sharpen with a whetstone top and bottom. Then strop or buff.
-
Why don't you sharpen it yourself ?
-
I'll fix one for you. Did you make the bellows to ?

Yes their are different types of sponges. I have some that stay soft all the time and others that get after they have been wet and dried get hard. I have no ideal what they are made from. To answer the other question some times i use pieces of real sheep skin that have been trimmed real close to dye with. Never tried to dye with a sponge of any kind.

Personally i don't think theirs any need of cutting a groove to stitch in. Now if your going to be rubbing up against something 8 hours a day then that's different. On the other hand if it's getting that much abuse the leathers not going to last anyway. 99.99 % of people are never going to wear through the stitches. It's like i used to have people come into my shop and tell they had ( any brand of boots you want to name ) and say i have had these boots for 20 plus years and look how good the sole has wore. I would tell them their not going to wear setting in a closet. It's the same with a holster or anything else.

New 6 Inch Trucker Wallet
dirtclod replied to LeatherLegion's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Nice job ! But i have a question where does your money go ? Does it fit in the zippered pocket without having to fold it ? The reason i ask is because i just measured a dollar and it's 6 1/8 inch long and your billfold is 6 inches long they i read your measurements.
