  1. I use it 3 or 4 to one, denatured alcohol is what i use thin it with. When i mix a batch i use big syringes i get at the feed mill. I fill the syringe with 20 or 30 CC's of dye put that in a bottle and get another syringe for the alcohol and 3 or 4 times as much alcohol and gets a nice color i think.
  2. It's pretty simple if you think about. Her man has something to sell if he can make people think that gas is the only way, guess what he gets RICH !!!! Greed pure and simple.
  3. Sounds like you need a new tire on your winder. When you take the winder out there should be a tire that fits on a wheel that rides on another wheel that drives the winder. If you need a tire Bob Kovair can sell ya one.
  4. Page 97 bottom right side in the 2012 Weaver catalog.
  5. Looks like a collar buckle. You need to check with someplace that sells harness hardware or does harness repair has a shop that will order them for you. Weaver has them i'm sure if you have a tax number.
  6. I didn't click on ever picture on the site. But the ones i did click on and they were several were the small ones.
  7. You wrote.....So, can we please get this conversation away from the man's pricing and judgement of his quality? He does work, he charges his price, and he's successful at it. Other person asked about how to do it. I went and looked at his stuff. And i wrote..... I just went and looked at the things he makes and he has little pictures of the stuff he makes. It makes me wonder when i see sites like that with little pictures if their ashamed of what they make or how good the quality it is. Personally if i was going to pay the price of his things i want a picture that's big enough to see what i'm buying. It does make me wonder if people have something to hide when they put little pictures up.... That goes for anybody selling anything. I mean they have a site and if i'm buying i want a picture that's big enough to see detail no matter what their selling and i don't mean a 4 by 4 inch picture. I want a 5 by 7 picture or close to it even bigger is better. I see quite a bit of chain mail when i go to sell and some of it is really nice !!! Some of it's pretty rough to !!!
  8. I don't know about Christan never heard of him till now and have never seen any of his work. The Anvil guy is getting the big bucks for the key fob. I'm not saying that either one does shoddy work. I'm saying that if enough people say your the best then you get to be the best weiither you are or not. Look around in magazines and on the TV theirs quite a bit of not so hot work. But their on the TV or got in a magazine so people think they must be the best or they wouldn't be there. I travel quite a bit selling my stuff at different events around the south east and mid west. I watch and listen to people and a lot of the time i hear oh his or her stuff is so nice and i go look they have stitches that are a 1/2 long and it looks like they held a rat by it's tail and let it naw out the piece nothing edged and nothing burnished. Now if they have something real nice i tell em they made something that's really nice. If it looks like junk i try not to say anything.
  9. Just curious but what did you do the new work grain side out when the saddle is a rough out ?
  10. I looked at his web page and yes i clicked on the tumbnails. 95.00 for a key fob that's a piece 1 x 7 or 8 inch piece of leather with a snap and a brass panic snap. I'd say he's hitting the 80 plus dollars a hour. More power to him if he can get it. But it's like i said before if enough people say your or your stuff is the best then you become the best weither you or not. I see happen all the time and it doesn't matter what field their in. I do leather work for a living and have done it for most of the last 30 years.

  12. Here's pictures of my pot with a piece of sponge cut to fit inside the pot. A slot is cut in the sponge for the thread to run through.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v285/dirtclod50/1WAX2-1.jpg
  13. Look for deep sea fishing tackle / hooks get one and then the dull the points. Looking at their site i don't think their going to sell you one of their hooks but i could be wrong.
  14. Billy Mac he said he wants to buy fake LV leather. I highly doubt anybody on here would be very happy if somebody had a makers stamp made just like theirs, then have the other person make holsters, belts, saddles or what ever using their makers mark. My guess is folks would be HIGHLY PO !!! I know i would be i've spent 20 plus years trying to get my brand built up making quality products. Using fake leather with a fake logo is no different. I do think that most of the time their selling over priced stuff that they had no hand in making outside of coming up with the design and i bet a lot of the designs are from somebody that works for them. It's just i like i tell people all the time if you can get enough people to say your the best at what ever your making pretty soon you are. Even if your stuff is junk !!! In their mind they have a what ever brand and it's the best because ever body says it's the best. It's just like the time i had a guy come by my shop asking me to repair his billfold. I looked at it told him it was made of plastic and it was. He swelled up like a toad and told me it was some big name designers billfold brand and that it cost 500.00 . Might of been all of that but it was still made out of plastic.
  15. Jam i bought mine from Ferdco, but i would think that one from Bob at toledo sewing machine, Steve at cobra, Ron at techsew or Grgg from keystone sewing would fit. Their copies of the machine i have.
  16. Would you want somebody to rip off your trademark or design ? IMO that's what you will be doing if you find the leather and do it. I'd tell em no way !!
  17. Nobody that i know of waxes bobbin thread unless they have a old machine that uses wax in the pot. In that case both top and bottom thread is waxed the top thread is waxed as you sew and the bobbin thread is waxed when you wind a bobbin. Once in a great while i get a hide that is sticky but not very often and then it seems to be in just part of the hide. The longest i sew regular is around 22 inches down both sides. But a needle will get hot sewing most anything. When i got my machine i didn't get the pot and melted thread into several times. After i got it i don't think i have after that and i have had my machine for 20 years or close to it. I would go ahead and get the pot.
  18. It's a Juki / Ferdco Pro 2000 by Ferdco. I use 10/12 ounce leather 99% of the time any where from 2 to 4 thickness. But a needle can get hot enough to melt thread sewing just about anything.
  19. Clicker you link doesn't work.
  20. Really nice work !! Better take some towels to wipe up the drooling with...LOL.
  21. I have one on my machine and wouldn't be without one. I cut a piece of sponge to fit inside the pot and pour my lube in, after reading about doing it on here i think. Anyway it's less messy. It sure helps in keeping your thread from getting melted into. The needle gets hot enough to do just that. I see smoke coming of mine pretty regular when i'm sewing something pretty thick
  22. I use click and ship a lot and for the last several months i noticed that they weigh all my packages when i turn them in. When i asked about it the lady said they have to check the weight now. When i talked to a guy from from USPS.com he said things were going to change in January but i didn't ask what was going to happen. I guess he ment the price increase.
  23. I wish the tool makers would but sizes on the tools in 8th 16th of a inch. 0 through 5 or 6 doesn't tell me anything about how big it is when i'm looking at beveler's or say basket weave stamps and i don't want to be ordering and have to send it back and trade because it's to big or to small. Like Billy Mac it doesn't have to be real fancy for me, just that it works and works well.
  24. I can't tell by looking yours at your because i can't see the inside. But after looking at the one on Esty, i would bring the holder up as high as the back of the pad is and then you can slip it in. The way i said to do it at first would work better if it was sewed across the top, bottom and side. But it doesn't look like any thing on yours is sewn.
  25. Look on Enco i got a smaller one a year or so ago and the shipping was free. It weights 70 pounds, something that you move around without any trouble by your self. I really don't think you need one that big, you only work on a small part of the stone anyway. Plus they have cupons on things to.
