  1. If your making a right angle turn when the needle is down tun the hand wheel a little till the needle starts back up and make your turn.
  2. It is a real nice punch i have 2 or 3 of them that i have picked up over the years.
  3. I use a left toe / foot to sew close to the edge.
  4. Try this link. https://www.google.com/search?q=acanthus+line+drawing&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a Then put your own spin on how you think they should look.
  5. I like the polyester thread the best.
  6. i have bought 10 plus machines over the last 30 years and i sewed on all of them but one before i bought. The one i didn't sew on turned out to be DUD !!!
  7. This sewing machine autopsy is interesting !! I'm learning things that i never knew about.
  8. I have no ideal what they used. 5/6 ounce is what i would use.
  9. I would use 5/6 ounce chrome tan.
  10. Give Bob a call i bet he can help you out. http://www.tolindsewmach.com/
  11. The extra shaft makes sense now. I hadn't even though about it making the machine run backwards.
  12. That's a pretty neat set you have there any movies of it in use ? I'm guessing the pulley on the far right goes to shaft that the drive belt fits on ? Why didn't you come up from the sprocket on the left to the drive pulley ?

    Suspenders

Put suspender elastic in at google and you will find several places.
  14. I have to agree the poorly made collars. Guess if anybody wants to make a spike collar they better do it now before he gets another patent. Wonder what he paid the person that he stole the ideal from ? Noticed on the patent form that the only people he has went after were Esty sellers. I'm betting he thinks he has won the lottery with his BS patent. Hellcat go buy grizzly gear.net and offer to sell it to him for some big price somebody all ready has grizzlygear.com and call the person that owns grizzlygear because that name is all ready taken and he using their name to do business. I checked that info at whosit.com. Give him some of his own medicine !!!!
  15. Quote //// Also do you find it necessary to enclose the machine in a crate, or is it sufficient to remove the head from the table and secure it all to a pallet? I don't know how carefull LTL Freight carriers are. I know a crate is best, but it also adds weight and size. A crate will add to the cost, but i would rather pay a little more for a crate than maybe have a busted machine ??
  16. For chaps you need 3/4 ounce or 5/6 ounce. The smaller the number the thinner / lighter the leather.
  17. When i was in the shop stamping a couple of projects i tried my 16 ounce maul right after i used my 22 ounce maul on the same piece. I was able to get a impression but no where near as deep or as good as the bigger one.
  18. Get a bigger maul or mallet 20 ounce or so, it will work wonders.
  19. It could be all of the things you said along with your mallet / maul not being heavy enough. If you using one of the poly mallets their to light to be of much use. Pictures of your problem ?
  20. So now i'm wondering if the people that make the conchos are violating his patent by making the conchos available to the public....HUMMM. If that's the case i guess he should be sueing them to...LOL.
  21. Good deal on getting the award. Do you get to keep the banner ? If you do i'd hang in my booth all the time. What are the things hanging on the wall ?
  22. Sounds like a rip off to me. Just like leasing a car is a total rip off for the everyday person.
  23. I glue leather halters, nylon i hold and sew.
  24. Do you want designs to tool by or designs / patterns to make something with ? If you something to tool by draw them yourself if you can draw. If you can't draw type in line art for say butterfly's you will get pages and pages of designs or you can buy them from Tandy and other places. If you want patterns to make something you can buy them from Tandy, Springfield Leather, Zack White and several more places or make your own, that's what i would suggest. Get some poster board and take off and create your own patterns.
  25. If your making them to sell get a machine especially if double stitching. When you have to go through three thickness's your going to wish you had a machine. I use a left toe foot all the time. Anybody can sew by hand but very are any good at it. Your going to need to get a machine that will sew at least 3/4 inch thickness. Somebody said the thread will unravel if a stitch breaks using a machine. NOT TRUE !! If that was the case their would be a lot of naked people walking around every day of the world if that was true. How many shirts have had that fell about because a stitch broke ? I'm betting none. Halters were sewn slowly before machines.
