I've used one of the wooden ones for close to 20 years and never had any problems with it. I have more costly ones but i use the wood one for most ever thing.
I'd bury it the ground for a couple of months and let the bugs clean it up. Then cut it on a band saw and scrape the marrow out or maybe cut before i buried it for the bugs. Not sure if would need to be cut to size or if it should dry first. I would think regular ole rubbing alchoil would kill any germs.
Here ya go. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=plastic+face+mask&_sacat=0&_odkw=mask+making+supplies&_osacat=0 And if that's not what ya want do a search for mask making supplies in a search engine.
Go to you tube and put in how to make a motorcycle seat. There is a lot of stuff, not sure if it's anything you can use or not cause i haven't looked at any of them.
Was it sewing fine before you started adjusting ? I would check and make sure it's threaded right and that the bobbin is in right. Then put a new needle in and see what happens.
You might find some tips here. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=make+a+motorcycle+seat&oq=make+a+motorcycle+seat&aq=0&aqi=g1g-m2&aql=&gs_l=youtube.1.0.0j0i5l2.119966.125827.0.132184.22.22.0.0.0.0.426.4151.5j9j3j1j4.22.0...0.0._g4V_M6N7oQ
I would get the bigger one. Take a look around at stores that sell kitchen supplies and see what they have in the cutting board line. That's where i get my cutting boards, their some type of plastic or nylon.
They won't sew 2/3 ounce and look right 5/6 sometimes 2 pieces of 5/6 yes or 5/6 and 2/3 will work to. If you want to sew the thin stuff you need to get another machine. I've had my machine for close to 20 years and i never have been able to sew the real thin stuff and get it to look right. My suggestion is to leave the tension alone and sew what it's designed to sew thicker stuff.
When my helper was puppy he didn't bother the leather. But if a tool hit the floor it was gone unless i was pretty durn quick. He's grown out of that stage now. But i am still looking for a edger that he stole !!
Wet a sponge and get the edges damp and rub them hard and fast with a piece of a cereal / cracker box or something like that. It will smooth and polish the edges up. But you really need to use a edger first to do it right.
I used 5/8" plywood on my top. For cutting i use a plastic / nylon (or what ever their made from) cutting board and put a piece of rubber shelf liner under the plastic to keep it from sliding around.
Chavez a couple of times i have had people pay useing paypal on a smart phone. I had them show me the screen where i had been paid and it worked out fine. I don't have a credit card machine yet. Some say they use a service where they write everthing down and put the information in when they get home. If i was the buyer i wouldn't do that. Theirs to big a chance that they will lose the book with my information or for somebody to steal it. Paypal has one of the card readers for your phone now i belive.
I'm not much a people person but i do enjoy going to shows to sell and visting with the other vendors. Ray i'm sorta like you as long as i pay for my trip and don't lose any money i'm ok with that. But making money is always better !!! My closest show is a two hour drive. A couple are a four hour drive one way. But most are a day to a day and half drive one way. I've went to three that were a two day drive one way. Hope ya kill a bear at the show Ray.
IMO their stuff is way over rated. All you need to make that pouch is a awl, needles, thread, poster board to make your pattern and a knife to cut it out with.
I'm pretty sure their was a add selling reprint copies of this book a year or so ago. Plus i'm pretty sure i have a copy someplace but i don't want to sell it.
