  1. I gave a order back to guy earlier this year. He had wrecked his motorcycle and messed the saddle bags up. Another guy brought them by for him and when i talked to him on the phone it was the price is to high then it was their going to be perfect right. Though to myself nothing i do is going to make him happy so i took them back to the guy that brought them. I needed the money but not the headache !
  2. Nice job !! You have the high end designer look in that purse.
  3. I read on here that people adjust the tension for ever thickness they sew. I don't. My machines have the tension set to the thinnest thing / lightest weight they will sew and i leave them alone. They work fine from thin to thick with no adjustment after doing that. Doing that has worked fine for me for over 20 years.
  4. I have took a bolt and filed it down a couple of times when i needed a special size beveler.
  5. Why not use the one that's on the machine ?
  6. Here's some pictures of my machine. It's a Juki Ferdco Pro 2000 if that's makes any difference. These may be pictures of what you were asking about, if their not ill take some more for ya.
  7. Sew it on your machine. But if you really want to sew it by hand take the thread out on your machine and use it to punch the holes.
  8. You just get a raised edge sometimes even if you edge before burnishing. Most of the time i edge it again to get rid of the raised part and burnish it by hand again with a deer antler and a piece of a cracker or cereal box, it doesn't take but a minute to do.
  9. Their is a firm tempered chrome tan leather. Ask some of the suppliers if they will send you a sample piece to look at that way you can tell if it will work.
  10. It looks nice !! Only thing is with the stitching that far away from the phone i think it loosen up. But then again i might be a 100% wrong to.
  11. I used the same thread and i found some at Cambell Bosworth. What i got was the deer it's a little darker than the pheasant but it's close to the same color and looks all most the same when you sew. http://www.campbell-randall.com/shop/index.php?route=product/product&filter_name=polyester%20thread&page=2&product_id=689
  12. Looks like it might be a footman loop.
  13. Are you sure it's a 405 ? The reason i ask is because when i did a search for a Juki 405 all that came up was a knife that goes on a machine to cut the thread with.
  14. Mexico ? All of the ones i have seen came from Mexico and the ones in your picture look like they came from there, to me. I have no ideal where to look in Mexico but it seems like the best bet.
  15. Your PM should be on this site. Look at the top by your name and see if their is a green dot if their click on your name and then click messages and you have your PM.
  16. I checked the size of the needles and they are a size zero.
  17. I'm guessing you have a halter all ready. Take it and measure the nose add 3 or 4 inches to the length so you have something to fold over and sew to. Get some poster board and just draw a pattern out and see how it looks on the halter if you like it use it, if you don't like the way it looks draw another one. 8 or 9 ounce leather should be fine if you want something a little thicker get some 10 / 12 ounce. It's been a while sense i sewed anything by hand but i think i used number 1 or number 2 size needles, if i think of it i'll look when i get out to the shop and make sure on the size. You will need a awl to, to make your holes for stitching.
  18. You have to get rid of the couch once you get the leather. After you pay the cost to dump it, is it worth it ?
  19. You sure have been busy making things. They all look real good for not doing any leather work before. On the Weekender bag it would look much better IMO without so many rivets. But you did a nice job on it all the same.
  20. Go to a auto parts store and ask to see the vaccum line / tubing. Take your tools with you to make sure that you get a size that will fit.
  21. What about sticking the bobbin onto a piece of dowel rod and winding it with a cordless drill ?

Nice job !! I really like the Trout !!
  23. Nice work Chief ! After looking around on that site i seen far more cheap over priced leather work than their was nice work under priced. That was looking at leather purses, bags, rifle slings, billfolds, guitar straps, business card cases and belts. I will have to say it blows my mind sometimes to see the junk that people buy and think they have bought the best ones ever made just because it cost more. That or it's the best because it came from this or that place and it's better that yours because they have a bigger store.
  24. I don't understand why you upset with her getting money for a start up business. No i'm not send her or anybody else any money because i don't have any extra. You getting $1500.00 from the state or somebody that you won't have to pay back unless the meaning of a grant has changed.
