  1. Red Devil try adjusting the blade if it's to close to the roller or crooked it won't cut right. Or it's that way on mine.
  2. I got the same thing.
  3. IMO they are the best saddle making books. They cover pattern making and have lots of drawings and pictures and text that covers ever thing from start to finish. Much better than any of the other books i have seen or bought over the years.
  4. If you have some try Goop or Go Jo hand cleaner. They will take tar off ya hands so they ought to take dye off.
  5. I'll take both of them. Do you take a paypal ? John
  6. I would make a light box if you don't have one. Theirs a link on how make in down towards the bottom of the page in Photography form on the forms page. On ebay i would crop them tighter and make the picture bigger on ebay and get rid of that white thing in the pictures. Try different colors of backgrounds i bet you can find something better than the leather or a different color anyway. Different color mask might better with different colors of back grounds. Maybe get a head to put the mask on. I do like your mask.
  7. You could cut a wood plug to fit in the end. Stick the wood in with with epoxy and take a couple of flat head screws and screw into the horn from inside the helment. Neat looking horn !!
  8. That's pretty neat. But isn't your buckle on the wrong end ?
  9. I use skirting leather for all of my holsters. Don't know about the boneing because i don't make that type of holster. Probely 15 years ago i tried the carveing / tooling leather and i didn't like it at all. The grain side had a funny feel and look and when i tried to do a light oil finish it wouldn't take but if dropped in the oil and pulled right out wipeing all the oil i could off it got really dark and stayed oily for a long time.
  10. I had trouble with my hand cramping several years ago and started squesseing a rubber ball all the time and it really helped.
  11. Thanks for the link McJeep. That's something i'll have to try.
  12. Great job on the patches and air brush work !!
  13. Crystal i have gotten the error message on just about ever thing i have voted on.I tried signing out and siging back in but that didn't help either.
  14. I know of a couple of guys that though ropeing a deer swiming across a rive was a good ideal to. They got their boat close enough to rope the deer and did. That's when all the fun started the deer tried to get in the boat and almost did because by then the boat was almost turned over anyway. After a few minutes the deer got tired enough they were able to cut the rope and the deer swam to bank. They were all lucky nobody or the deer drown. Lessons you pay for be it hide or money stick a lot better than the ones people tell you about.
  15. Between those two choices i would get the Osborne but in a 4 inch or smaller blade. A 5 inch blade is to big for regular work a 5 inch blade gets you to far away from your work IMHO.
  16. The knife is from japan i think and i think Craft Japan sells them. I have seen some on ebay to look under knives in the leather craft section.
  17. Salvi here's a link for how to do the braid. http://www.kingsmerecrafts.com/page100.html
  18. In the past i have tried it both ways. If i were you i would sell the dealer the holsters, that way you have your money up front and you can use it to buy more leather or what ever. If you do consignment you have your holsters and your money tied up. Maybe for a few days but it could be a few months or longer. Plus you need to make sure their is a understanding on what happens if something is stolen. Who's going to be out the money you are the dealer ? That's why i suggest selling and getting your money on deliveryif something happens to the holsters it's their problem. Plus they will try harder to sell something that's theirs.
  19. I don't know why you have your panties in a wad. I clicked on go shopping and went right to it. Whats your site look like ?
  20. Spinner she is a Cutie for sure !!
  21. All i have for my machine is the right and left feet. I use the left toe foot for most every thing. It will allow you to sew up closer to the edge with the roller guide on. The stirrup plate is for sewing around a stirrup when you cover them and i think some folks use it for sewing holsters. When i make a holster i use the plate that came on my machine. The rest i don't have or really know how or what they are used for.
  22. Their are no dumb questions just dumb answers. Try Wickett and Craig they offer some different colors that might work for you. http://www.wickett-craig.com/
  23. I don't know anything about casting silver either. But if you carve wax you might be able to make a mold and do a lost wax casting. I think that's what it's called. My guess is they silver solder a chicago screw to the casting to attach it to the bill fold. If you type in sliver working forms and lost wax casting their are several places telling how to do it. Good luck.
  24. For me personally i don't like the straight cuts across the tops of the holsters. They would look a lot better if the top of the holster is rounded. As far the strap, i think a thumb break type strap would look a lot better. But you didn't build em for me.
  25. I do a few one off pieces and like you i don't do them again. But i think it's all right to do one similar but different. Might even ask the first customer if it would be all right to do a similar one before i did it, espically if they paid big bucks to have a one off piece.
