  1. Nice work on the knife, sheath and stand ! Somebody is going to real happy when they win it.
  2. Angie M, you need some thinner to put in your can of barge it make it easier to spread. I use a little plastic coke bottle with hole drilled in the top ( take the piece of plastic out the top ) and spread the glue with a piece of trimmed sheep skin. When your done stick the sheep skin on top of the bottle and it won't dry out.
  3. In the forms toward the bottom of the page their is a section on taking pictures. This link should get you started http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=2260&pid=197786&st=0entry197786 .
  4. Nice job. I'd never heard of a barrel rest and couldn't figure out how it was used so i looked it up. One thing for sure you better make sure your gun is unloaded if you value your toes :-).
  5. Looking good ! He ought to be proud of his new saddle.
  6. Caroline, that is one nice piece of work !!The flowers look real. Great job on the painting to. I would of missed the lady bug if Winter Bear hadn't pointed it out. You get a Gold Star from me !
  7. I didn't see made in Mexico. I seen Mexico stamped on the leather. It may be that the leather was tanned in Mexico and the saddle built in the U.S. At different times i have seen leather that had Product of Mexico or Mexico stamped on the hide.
  8. I agree about the tools and materials. It's just i was told when i started doing carpenter work years ago, get the best tools you can afford it will make your job easier. Or to put another way you can dig a hole with a stick but you'll do a better faster job with a shovel ! Pratice is a big part of doing anything very few if any do something well the first time they try.
  9. Nice job ! It looks great.
  10. I use fire fox and if click on thumb nail it goes to a bigger picture with information or i can do the hoover thing and it see the same information without the bigger picture.
  11. OK, i understand now. Never seen either one of them except in pictures. When he said said Classic it throwed me a curve.
  12. What's a Classic ? A sewing machine ?
  13. I would get another Ferdco Pro 2000.
  14. If it's the tannery in Tenn. i bought some latigo from them a few years ago with no problem. Might be different now. Call and see if they will sell to you.
  15. Another fine seat !
  16. Some of the acrylic paints have metallic colors. You can find them in craft stores.
  17. Looking at the pictures i'd say your lucky to have been able to get it put when you did. Most of the time it seems if a fire gets to the attic / roof it's pretty much a done deal.
  18. I've never made anything like what she is wearing. But it looks to me like a bra and corset with a second piece added onto the corset. I would think that you could cut the bra part oversize some and mold it on dress form and then cut it out. Might work.
  19. Make a button out of a stick on one side and loop a piece of leather around it from the other side.
  20. Stealfdawg, i'm thinking their are a lot of folks on here that have big hearts and would / will help a person out if they lost all or most of their tools and shop. But if their like me and have been scamed in the past trying to help somebody out they want to see pictures of the damage. Your the second person in two weeks to say they have had a fire. But their have been no pictures of a fire. Now that's not to say you or the other person didn't have a fire. It just makes a person gun shy about offering their help again. I all so know that it doesn't much of a fire to ruin every thing. I have helped gut two houses where the fire was contained to a spot that a 5 gallon would of covered. But the whole house was ruined from smoke damage and had to be gutted down to the studs. Best of luck getting things cleaned up.
  21. Draw / trace your H onto a piece of paper and start drawing using different shaped washers, coins or a compass till you come up with something you like and trace that onto your leather.
  22. I'm not real sure what your asking about. But if you want to make a 3" wrist band you will have to angle / taper it where the buckle and strap meet unless you use a 3' buckle or maybe two buckles and straps sewn onto the 3" piece.
