  1. Nice really nice !!! Somebody is going to be happy when they open that gift !!!
  2. Take a look at your local libary and see what they have. Plus they can do a inter libary loan if you have the title. In the past i have done that a couple of times.
  3. You could turn the edges of the silk under that way you would have a finished edge on the outside. As far as the glue try it on a small piece and see what happens.
  4. I never have tried this but it might work. Fix a piece of sponge next to the needle or fix it where the thread will run through the sponge ( cut a slit in the sponge ) and put the lube on the sponge and see what happens. I sew 4 pieces of 12/14 oz regular. Like the other person said it's no problem to get smoke coming off of a needle and that may very well melt the glue.
  5. When i get a piece of sticky leather like your talking about. I sew with no thread and go back and sew with thread. It's not something i like to do but it's better than having to pick stitches out or messing something up. When i glue in the winter espically i use a hair dryer to dry the glue. Because sometimes when the glue hasn't dried all the way it will mess things up as far as sewing. If you get a wax pot and put your lube in it that will help to.
  6. You better not hang up on me again !!!!!! LOL
  7. That sounds kinda like a email i have got twice. They want to buy every thing i have made up. All i need to do send a total. Funny thing is they don't care about the price or shipping. I'm guessing the reason they don't care is because the credit card is stolen or their going to do a charge back. Either way i'm out every thing. It went in the trash along with the email i got saying i had 10 million dollars in a over seas bank all i need to do is send money so they get out for me. It aint gonna happen !!!! LOL
  8. With a full bobbin you should have plenty of thread to make it around your belt.
  9. We will need some pictures of the tools to help you.
  10. The humidty thing is myth IMO, a non stainless isn't going to rust over night. I live in Kentucky and 75% humidty is low 80 to 90% is more like espically in the summer. I have several knives that i have had for 20 plus year that are not stainless and they have never rusted and they have been around a lot longer than 20 years i've had them.
  11. Their pretty neat. Did you intend to a have face on the survivor one ? Last picture bottom left hand side.
  12. Take the head off and put it in the cab like you said. Put the stand in the back and tie it down. Each one is heavy by their self and togeather they weight a ton. Years ago i hauled a straight needle machine all togeather standing in the bed of my truck it was never racking and i only had to go 30 miles.
  13. Spinner you could do the same thing that's done on a saddle but do it on the sides of the bibs you make. I bet nobody has done that.
  14. This is just a guess on my part. Make sure it threaded right, that the thread isn't caught anyplace, put a new needle in and make sure it's in right. Tighten the bobbin back up to where it's close to where you started. Loosen the top tension maybe back it all the way off and slowly tighten the top tension sew some and see how it looks and keep adjusting the top tension. If their is more than one place to adjust the top tension adjust them at the same time. Just about every time i had had problems like yours it was because tension was to tight. Maybe somebody that really knows will come by.
  15. File a beveler down to shape you want.

  18. I think the color is in the tannage because i have got some that was lighter and some that was darker. It dyes fine to, but it got a little dark for what i was wanting to do if i used neetsfoot oil. Lexol conditioner and EVOO their wasn't much color change.
  19. Nice job ! Is it a user or a looker now that you have fixed it up ?
  20. I keep the money in MY pocket ! No cash box for somebody else to take or get into.

  22. Nice job !
  23. Looking good.
  24. I use regular Barge and haven't had any problems for 20 plus years.
  25. The second one is used in making shoes and boots. If remember right it's used in pulling the vamp or counter over the last. The bottom piece stays on the shoe or boot and acts as a lever i guess you say plus it holds what ever your pulling tight, leaving one hand to put you nail where you want and then drive it with your hammer. Maybe one of the boot makers will pop in tell what it's called.
