  1. Charley, i don't have a buffer. I use a regular 6 inch grinder with 8 inch buffing wheels on it and all i use it for is a final touch touch on a knife sometimes. I never have tried buffing leather on mine. But i think it would burn the leather and the rouge will come off on the leather i would think. But it might work.
  2. That's a nice shop !! You want to clean mine up so it looks like yours ? LOL Ray is that a wrestling championship belt on the bench ? Now i wish i had all of your tools !!
  3. Jock other may be like and not really understand what you want when you say a leather buckle. Do want a buckle made out of leather only ? Or do want a leather covered metal buckle ? Do you have a picture of what you want or something close to it ?
  4. Ray, i like your books ! Some of the titles look like they may of been X rated back in the day. I have a friend that collects racie paper back books from the 40's and 50's and they have pretty wild titles for the day. They were sold from the back room or from under the counter in this town...LOL.
  5. The members from the VFW go to every cemetery in the county and put a flag on every Veterans grave on Memorial Day every year. Seeing all of the flags makes one appreciate the men and women that have served their country. A big thank you to all the veterans. That's a nice looking Jeep, Frank.
  6. Rickyfro i feel your pain because i have had the same thing happen to me. Only difference was it was a friend or somebody i though was a friend. For years i trusted only a couple ( and i mean 2 ) people and the rest it was cash only !! A couple of years ago i started trusting some folks again. My expernse has been as log as you have something they want, sugar wouldn't melt in their mouth because their so sweet. But as soon as they get what they want you out in the cold. No emails, no phone calls no nothing. In this case i sent them a couple of things to try out. All i wanted to know what they though about the product after they used for it a little while and it was theirs to keep. So far nothing and i don't expect to hear from them either or not until they want something else. So for me it's back to only trusting the 2 people that haven't screwed me. It's better to make no sale than to make one on credit and not get paid. It's like i was told once. If you get ever job you bid on your working to cheap, and i have that to be true to.

You might be able to find some of the plastic fruit the right size and cut in half to use for your mold. Or if you know somebody that has a lathe get them to turn the size you want and cut in half mold it and then sew or lace it togeather.
  9. Thank you for all of the pictures !!
  10. I have them put the belt on and then mark the center on the top edge of the belt by eye balling. That way it will be in the center. If just measure the belt and try for the center theirs a good chance it will off to one side or the other. Theirs no way around a belt loop being the way.
  11. I didn't realize they were that small. Never have seen one. Maybe cut a piece of masonite if your going to make your own pattern.

  14. Cut a piece of wood the size you need ( you may need to add some leather or something to it to get the right thickness ) and make you pattern off of that. That's the way i do things like that anyway.
  15. Do you have any pictures ? Have the hides been folded or they rolled up ? I know they have been folded along the backbone.

  17. Nice looking knives. What do the smaller 3 inch round knives sell for ?
  18. toggot i would try a small piece and see how it took the dye before i dyed the whole thing. Theirs not anything i know to do it to make it smooth. But somebody else might know a trick on how to do that if it can be done. I never have tried boiling leather. When i need to mold something useing veg tan i case the leather ( search caseing leather on the site and you find out how to do that ) and mold it around a form and let it dry. In you case someting round or oblong ought to work. Good luck on your hat.
  19. Nice job Spinner !! I really like your dragon. The welt looks like you needed a extra long needle and awl just to reach from one side to the other. Really nice work on the brackets to.
