Excellent work. The braid looks especially good and helps to 'finish' it off. I hope that mine will turn out as nice.

Very nice and original wallet. Do you use a real stone to get the stone looking boarder or is it done with traditional tools? Superb work.

I like it, especially the two tone lacing. Is it more difficult to splice or end the lacing compared to one colour lacing? Looks great!

Very nice and original looking. What finish do you use on the stingray?

Stunning work! I especially like the terminator one. Did you use an airbrush to do the shading?

Hello and welcome to the forum Mark. Your leatherwork is fantastic. I look forward to looking at your pictures and website over the weekend. I'm Paul and live in Herefordshire.

Just seen this post. The width of the the circles on the 2nd design may be a little ambitious for your first projects. Id try to make circles slightly wider if possible so that errors in transfering the outlines and cutting are less obvious. The same applies to cutting them with the swivel knife. I would use something round to trace around or use a compass to scribe the circles. As has been already mentioned, try to make few, long sweeping cuts with constant pressure to achieve more uniform depth as you go around. A well stropped knife is essential on properly cased leather. Keep practicing and feel free to message me if you would like me to clarify anything. Good luck.

Wow, I like it. I wouldnt mind having a go at this type of portrait. Did you get the image by using photoshop or similar to change the contrast of a picture and convert to just black and white?

Welcome, from England! You found a great forum to learn about leatherwork. I've not made any tack yet buy my first piece will be a name band for a friends horse to go across the bridle (at least I think thats what its called). After that, Id like to learn more about making horse tack. Enjoy the forum, I've learnt so much here. Ive not been to Norway yet but will be in Finland next month

Welcome to the forum. This is the best place that I have found to learn about leatherwork and most folk are happy to help with any questions.

I agree with Tom, I much prefer the traditional methods.

Knife Sheath For A Ka-Bar Becker Bk-2
OdinUK replied to OdinUK's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Thanks for your comments. I forgot to say that I tried to copy the design from a picture a friend sent me from a forum, so I can't claim the design was mine. It did take a lot of time to get the shape right and to figure out the sequence of the steps to take to make it. Its hand sewn and dyed with Fiebings oil dye. Next I'd like to make a sheath for my Ka Bar US Army fighting knife.- 7 replies
