  4. Started on the feathers. Had to stop, something was not feeling right. So I will get back to it today. The feathers is the hardest part. Laying them right. If the lace starts to turn I have a way to keep it straight. This is for a boy so I have to keep it from to fluffy. i do have some hawk feathers-owls and a few buzzard feathers to work with. Well I am not going to use Buzzard feathers. they go on my straw hat. I also have blue jay and some nice woodpecker feathers. Joe
  5. Sylvia, Now that is small. Looks like wire and the same loop direction. Yes mine are different. Never liked the one's I seen. If you rode horses at a trot down an untraveled trail you will get a first hand look at a web. To me that's what a catcher should look like. Done10 so far, one special. Belongs to my Niece, she has cystic fibrous and is 5 years old. She claims it stops bad dreams! When they star back up she straightens the feathes out and they stop. Who knows. Joe
  6. Need to change up. Tobacco pipes on hold-Welding set aside . Chips from tree trimming in eye, yes wore googles. So i am in the process of doing this catcher. Sill gluing the charms than lacing with feathers. I do still have 2 tobacco pipe holders to do, but land clearing needs to be done after making a rake to add to front of Loader Joe
  7. Finished this yesterday. Had major problems with it. The dreamcatcher is still in process and the drawing of belt pipe holder has been made for my self and order for 2 more is requested. Joe St.
  8. Well Luke. That is an excellent question. The other question is: Was the pipe created from the wood from his Dam? Joe
  9. Well I feel that this is about as good as it gets. I do smoke a pipe. and i like making pipes and accessories that go with it. Joe
  10. Here is a site that may help. I downloaded one to my pictures already www.idsource.com/keytags.php Joe
  11. Got 'em over the weekend Joe! Kelley loved 'em!! She wanted me to let you know how thankful she is for your kind gift. You folks are just great Joe!! My best to all!! Thanks again my friend, FRank This to me is what it's all about. I added a tassel at the bottom on both, sun darken with neatsfoot and sealed it. Joe
  12. Capnmeow, In the 70's. $5. am hour was going nowhere. I received a set of tools and tried leather.Master at first swivel cut-- NO. Buying leather out of question. So i sit aside the tools, found a company just starting out and put total effort in growing my career as the company grew to 5 branches. Keys to everyone of them. when retired picked up the tools and started messing with leather again. Frustrations yes. Going past ability is frustrating and seeing the work shown here is double frustrating. As in any Art, you have to have a tad of talent and a lot of practice to get quality work. You can raw it out-It will be a long hair pulling road and I believe looking at it as an 8 hr job. I do have a mentor and a family friend. Luke Hatley. These times are different,Jobs harder to get and company's loyalty does not match workers loyalty any more. You can sell your tools to better your earnings and buy them when you income is comfortable or retired or you can save them and work with them if you unfortunately have a working break. As for the fustration goes. redo untill you feel good with it . If it doesn't get better.try a different project in leather till you hit on something falls into place.I showed Luke a coaster pattern i wanted to do. 3 times no good. Set it aside untill my abilty devolipes to where i can work on it again. Joe
  13. Biggie, There is no way around it. No matter how hard I concentrate on measuring or tooling, a mistake will happen. So I live with it and keep on going. Never knew I could weld ether until i tried. As long as it works and hold together is all that i require. Joe
  14. Just having fun working with leather. Mistakes is my Trademark. Joe
  15. This is what i have done so far. had to stop painting . Brush loading up to bad. I am going to line the red with blue. Joe
  16. Doing this Friend in New York. Made a couple of coasters and received more back than I thought the coasters were worth. So this is for his wife. Going to paint the letters yellow and outline in red. The font I used does look funny but thats how it printed out. It does have to be cleaned up. Joe Ste

  18. AaronR, Man thats and old post and thanks for looking. What I used was belt blanks, put velcro for adjustment and shave cheap spomges for a sweat band and Locked tite-super glued them on. Made for Wifes's sisters for reunions. Joe
  19. They are great giveaways to friends. Ideas of what to put on them is obvious. That way they do not care about flaws. It is also a challange. I found out my limit on ability. Now I have to work up to that limit. Joe
  20. Made this for a neighbor next door. Seen a Shovelhead tag on front bumper one day and said what the hey. Sound like a good idea to make one. Joe
  21. Finished this yesterday. Not form smoking but display. There maybe a few pipe guys on here that would enjoy see this. Enjoy. Joe
  22. Made this for a fellow pipe smoker on a forum we belong to. He is also a MGB enthusiast. Somethings turn out ok and get used. Flaws yes but excepted. Joe
  23. Finished. The Crimson red did not turn out like I wanted to. It was oil paint. I was looking for a flaking look ,like paint peeling off. I am going to work on that. Mixing colors to get right tone is another problem I kind of like the out of the dirt or barn texture. Going to concentrate to on that maybe everthing will improve. Joe
  24. I guess I go off the beaten path. It's just doing till getting it right. Joe
