  3. Hi, Last operating system went down Bought new one and old programs almost lost. Had Print Shop downloaded on old system, no disc. Never again. Found Print shop at Staples--- same program $9.00 old one $15.00. It had 2 disc. 1 install and i clip art. IT was Print Shop vs 23. Whats so go is that it has rulers on top and bottom so you can size to project working on .Also it has Headliner text that has shapes that will twist or curve words- change colors- and fonts. Windows 7 !!!! Better than a cold beer. Joe
  4. Well , My wife is not getting headaches from the pounding now. She is getting them from the whirl of the rotor tool and belt sander. 13 tobacco pipes done and a stack of wood. The rays coasters I started is has been cased so much they have grown gills. The problem with all of this is that every craft seems to have more masters craftsmen ( sorry girls) than amatures. So Its like hitting your head against the wall trying to gets as good. sooooooo If I like it than fine. The more I do i seem to forget how I did it the first time and every one is started different. problem is ---- I for get how i did it the best. so every pippe is like doing the first. They say when studing and drink beer, when you tkae a test than you have to be in the same condition. Fooie I dis proved that thery a lot on these pipes. Also passing middlle age of 65 may be the problem. Anyway The headache part may also be me staying home 24 hrs aday instead of10 Still here and checking in all the time. joe ps my wifes title mow is Project Manger.

  7. Forgot about how I shaped it. used a dermal with flex shaft -spiral wood cutting dill bit- wide tooth cutter. Drill press for bowel hole. Hand drilled air passage on stem. Bench wood saw, 1inch x 30inch belt sander and a 4inch band sander. did between 3pm and 5pm on bench while enjoying the afternoon. I can not measure worth a filp, so I just eye ball it. Joe

  12. Thank you Ferg I never done this before and it seems to be working for me. I thought about using that wood again on another pipe except I figure That it 's not going to be the same as the first.. I had no other problems using other woods over again. But this ,I and my wife like it so much that its the only one I will make from that type of wood. Again thanks Joe and Lois Stewart .

I have so much going on,I cam hardly get out of driveway. Buliding shead-tearing down another shead-clearing land of scrap metal and crusing beer cans. need to buy anopther acre of land behind me so i can for storage from cleaning house out.

  18. A good freehand drawing. Something I stop trying. I Googled pencil images flowering vines and seen some that i could use next time i do a Ladies flask, headband or can holder. Download it-import it to print shop size it ( may add another image with it) print it out. When I start to trace ,if there is 2 images, flow them together. My Print shop has rulers on side and top, so i can size it to fit whatever size of leather i am using. This works for me. I can see you adding to the image with your ability. Stewart Thanks for the puting a project into action _Flask

Started my 7th. going to make out of Rain tree wood. when i get 2 more pipes done .1 flask 2 kozys and Yes a wallet, I will give them the flea market test. Going to keep it simple. Joe St
  21. Well had to try doing one.Old one wore out-store bought. Made all mistakes that could have been made. Cut backing wrong size. Not wide enough and too long. The lace holes was lined up with a clamped down steel ruler--- reason for $700.00 shed. I am always a 1/2 bubble off. Used wood stains except for black paint. Good idea but bad application. Did not want to use leather or wax thread lacing. wanted to do artificial sinew. Know I know which type of lacing to use and to help cover spacing ( Twinoaks) The carving of pipe I am happy with, I did use same piece of scrap to test the stains except for the Black paint. The inside inserts were bought from Springfield in which they helped me on how the thing is suppose to work. That's when I found out that it was not wide enough. well waste not want not. Here goes Joe St Luke said He would give me hands on when I visit my kids-Unless he is on a raft.

  23. Sorry Tlong and reddevil76, Wife was feeling helpful and spiked the coffee and I picked up the wrong name. I guess it algoes back to 1st grade and learning to print. All a's on a full lined page untill done right than on to the rest. Joe "humble " Stewart
  24. Hi Tlong, I can relate to ordering and scrap leather. Using the swivel knife is still a problem to me. I do a lot of tracing and found out that if i press harder when i trace on to leather my knife tries to run in the grove. after a while i found out that i do not have to press as hard as it is starting to become natural. A sharp blade helps. I do also tilt and use directional lighting. As for scrap leather and cost, I chose to go ahead and do something for me or family as practice. Any unused space on a scrap can be used for stropping the knife. Maybe this can help cause i am still learning with written advice that is on here. Joe St
