  6. you can cut it with a laser. I use a laser for other leather cutting. I can't afford a 1500 dollar croc hide so i have never tried to cut it. (we have a few at work) You can also use a scroll saw... scalpel or xacto knife
  7. metal will be a much costlier higher power unit. I use a laser all the time and use acrylic to make my templates. I use a machine with a 3'x4'bed with 150 watts. Now I can cut very very thin metals.. but you will need a fiber laser or a lot more power. you might try a waterjet or cnc plasma cutter for metal..
  8. amazing how easy it looks... I might have to try to make one Thanks Lew
  9. you probably want to get a reducing pulley setup... costs 150 plus roughly. This will give you more power at slow speeds. And there is an adjustment for the presser foot pressure... just not sure where it is on your machine but I am sure others will chime in
  10. I have to glue some cut out leather spoked gears to a bag... Now I can only glue the the one side of the gear. I can't use a contact cement because you have to glue both sides. What kind of glue would work? Now the reason I can't glue both sides is because the gear has lots of open cut thru areas where I couldn't clean up the glue in those spots any help would be appreciated.. Thanks Lew

  13. First I would like to say that there is am amazing amount of education available on the net.. FREE..YAY But there are tandy stores out there with good staff.. The livonia michigan store is managed by a fellow named Chris. He is a wealth of knowledge and honest about products. The two other employees also are good leather craftsman. They are great to just hang out with and share knowledge. I wish i could afford the high end tools I see.. jerimiah watt, joseph dixon... vergez blanchard.. to name a few. I will acquire them as funds allow. But the artisan within will make even the crudest tools sing!
