  1. Cyberthrasher - You are right about using Antique, this is how most folks use it. How ever, like a lot of procedures and products there are other ways to use it. jsb - Some of the things I make I only use Antique to color the leather (after a lite coat of Neatsfoot and time for that to dry some) and then when the Antique is dry I use it again to highlight the tooling. My avatar is leather colored with Saddle tan Antique and you might find this to be of some use... Some Tips On How To Use Antique
  2. If you had not said there was something wrong - we would never know... they look great to me! Nice Work!
  3. Wow! That is Really Nice! Very Special!
  4. I make a lot of coasters and before I got my clicker I always used a LION EV-R-Round Circle Cutter. Capable of cutting circles from 3/4 in. up to 6 3/4 in. I found this to be the easiest and fastest way to make a whole lot of rounds. If your pattern covers the center then there is no problem with a pin mark. If the pattern does not cover the center then Bruce Johnson's solution sounds Really Good to me. Very clever! BTW - I did some price checking and they are about $31.49 DO NOT buy one from Amazon - their price is Way Way too expensive. Outrageous!
  5. OH, That is Nice! Verrrry Verrrry Nice!
  6. I like your notebooks and the design of the inside cover of the smaller one. Really Nice work!
  7. Very Nice! Simple but Very Well Done! Excellent Quality!
  8. Hey, that looks really good to me too!
  9. Hi Ferg: It might help if we could see a picture of what you are trying to do. I have a simple way to depict waves and put it around the image of an island. I use a V821 Craftool Veiner Stamp You can use it straight on, or tip it I hope this helps
  10. Dwight Do you dilute the dye at all? So you can get the leather a lighter color and then maybe dip again to get it darker? What dye do you recommend? Thanks for your help
  11. Welcome & I just gotta say I love your handle...
  12. HI Catskin - On my (iMac) computer I can easily change the Display Settings to fix that problem you are having. I have the Display setting on my computer set to 1680 X 1050 and can easily see everything without having to scroll back and forth. That is something you can change in your System Preferences (under Display on a Mac)
  13. Really Nice work Chief. I especially like that braiding on the checkbook! Nicely done!
  14. Me too, I'd love a copy of the patterns. Many thanks. lazynleather@wolfenet.com Thanks so much for sharing

  16. I am sure there is more going on to keep this Grrrreat website going than we will ever know, and So much has been fixed already, and I really appreciate it all... However there are still problems seeing some of my Gallery pictures in the Large View and I have noticed it is happening to others as well. Just Out of curiosity I was wondering how long it will take to fix this particular glitch? Thanks for all of your help!
  17. Very Nicely done Picture Frame! How did you do the back on that to keep it standing up - or will it hang?
  18. Congratulations Cheryl - The first time is always the hardest. Now you have an idea of what it is like and it probably cant get worse than that... Cold and not enough people buying. Now you have an idea of what to expect and you can just get busy and make more stuff to sell. No need to be anxious - I know I would have been... I bet the First Craft Show is like leatherwork - the more you do, the easier it gets, the better you get at it. I am glad you have a service dog that can go with you too... Dogs are great ice breakers (and a very good judge of character) I know my dog attracts other folks that like dogs. I always have mine with me where ever I go and I always notice people smiling at me (until I realize they are smiling at my beautiful little border collie... Any way, Congratulations and best of luck on your future Craft Shows! Now get some sleep... Hope you remembered to set set your clocks back...
  19. Oh, Hey Sampsonlll - You might also find this to be of interest... Here is an interesting post with a picture of his work, and his finishing technique. I just Loooove his work - Double U Leather Floral Checkbook Cover Hope this is of help
  20. Something else you might consider is if you are having problems with a certain step until you get it figured out to your satisfaction, you should try it out on scraps first. Also, you don't really have to throw something away if it doesn't turn out exactly like you had in mind. You could just dye it or color it all one color... * I have seen things that were really nice, or very original - due to mistakes... Once you get to the point where you have your antique on and it is dried you can wash off a lot if it and you might end up with a color you might like... this might help with that Some Tips On How To Use Antique the 4th step in particular. You might be able to find something helpful here... I think I know what you want and you will need to try the products mentioned above, but you might be able to salvage your other projects that didn't turn out 'quite right'. My avatar is a piece that I colored with Saddle Tan Antique
  21. Heheh I didn't take it that way at all - although, communication is a funny thing. I read that to say "sometimes a critique is not the way to go - Consider a question instead " How did you do that ?" I think part of the point was that a comment doesn't always need to be a critique IMHO - just some of my thoughts It is not just what you say but how you say it... If you don't exactly feel comfortable or qualified with critiquing, then don't. But you can still show support with a simple comment if you want to... ***If you post under Critique my Work! or if a critique is actually asked for elsewhere, then I think a critique is expected. But: *Not every post is asking for a critique - or needs one. *Some folks shouldn't critique if they cant do it with kindness and consideration... *Some folks have tough skin and don't mind. ***You never know when you are really going to hurt someone's feelings. Sometimes just an "atta boy" is all I need -Just a simple reply can be enough to be encouraging. It seems like you could find something positive to comment on - especially if you have downloaded their pictures ***I noticed a long time ago that some posts with pictures will show that lots of folks viewed the post and hundreds downloaded the pictures but no one took the time to say - Thanks for sharing your work... Congratulations Bill, on becoming an Ambassador! This is a really Great topic and you have brought up some Really Good thoughts and comments.
  22. Oh Boy - You know I'll always look! I just love lookin at the detail in your Very Fine work. I am sure who ever gets that is gonna be a proud owner...
  23. Having used a purse in the past... imho - my thoughts on the pretty bag closers are that they sure look nice, but to me they seem like they would be awkward to use... Personally, I would rather have just a clasp or closure that I could easily undo with one hand.
  24. WOW How exciting for you Cheryl! I bet you are feeling high as a kite right about Now! Congratulations. Best of luck to you! Cheryl
  25. I know this is an old post, but I really like the ‘Wrinkled’ look of the leather – and he explains how to do it… http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=3597
