  3. I do carry around a box full of my finished pieces... I think Custom Business cards is a Grrrrreat idea. However, they can't actually be used... I like the idea of a Custom Coaster better... I know the first time I ordered a KIngMarker Rubber Stamp (that was 25 years ago) they sent along a coaster with their business information on it and I still have it... Or custom Key Fobs - Springfield Leather gives these out with their orders and I use one of them. If you want to you could have a stamp made of your design to fit on any of these... I live on a small island (10,000) and over the last 40 years have met many folks here. I actually do carry some type of my leatherwork with me as I go about my business to the PO or Grocery etc... I enjoy show & tell with friends and sharing an occasional coaster or two - and I like to know they will probably be using it and not just put it in a drawer. I have made sales because someone saw my work in someone's house and I have also made many sales because someone was near by in the PO that saw my work and wanted something too. That's when I let them see the box of goods I keep in my truck... jmho Kate - Nice Business Card Luke - I'm laughin' - I have used a business card as a toothpick....

OK Really Good News now but - I looked at my water bill and it was $20 higher than usual. So YEIKS - I figured I had a leak somewhere and asked my neighbor to come over with his back hoe. Well Neil stopped by to take a look first and it turns out my Garden Hose was leaking…

Old lesson - learned and forgotten - look for the easiest fix first.

Since the weather has gotten cold and wet I have been parking inside the (2nd) gate right next to the house. Ba...

Oh well shoot... here I was thinking the husband got caught doing something... or a beloved horse passed. But I guess this is a much better story... in the long run.

Sorry - no husband or animal to bury... I just saw that bill and thought the worst. Especially since it has been so cold and wet, almost snowing and I had visions of having my yard and driveway all dug up trying to find the leak... I just feel so darn lucky it was an easy fix.

Good lesson here - look for the easiest solution first and don't think the worst first...

  13. Had to take a break - the power went out for about 24 hours... bad timming and no back up generator, no lights. A person sure gets used to using electrivity, but I kinda enjoyed the quiet...

  14. I just read a post where the gentleman said he used painters tape on the back Another Belt Order Completed <---- Check out this link - His work is Super and I have read of others using tape also... like 2 layers going opposite directions. Sounds like that would be much easier to remove when you are done tooling. Hope this helps...
  15. What kind of heater do you have? If it is brrrrr cold out in the shop I don't wanna go there. I have a DeLonghi EW7707CB Oil-Filled Portable Radiator Set on the lowest setting it keeps my (12 X 24) shop warm and only raises the electric bill $20. a month. On sale at Amazon for $50. with free shipping

  19. I'm not worried Oh Ferg..... I guess you missed the first part of the last post where I said "Yup, I Totally agree with you... making tools is perfectly OK".....
  20. Woo-Hoo, I got a day off with pay today - Christmas present from a customer. I love being self employed!

  21. Yup, I Totally agree with you... making tools is perfectly OK and I love how everyone freely shares their leather work knowledge here. I think that is Wonderful... I love that about Leatherworker.net. But, the name of this topic is not about just making a tool or a maul... it is about a BearMan inspired maul and I just thought it was important to give credit where credit is due…… and imho - I Think that should have been done in the beginning – it could have been done easily… Just to explain my thinking - This topic went from talking about dimensions and materials for making a BearMan inspired maul - to someone asking “if you can get it for that price would you consider shipping some my way” **I just didn't know if that question was in reference to shipping material or shipping finished mauls. **Especially after the trouble Spinner had with someone stealing his design for the burnishers. *****You all may not have thought about this or may not be aware of this but There are A lot of people that read these posts that are not members of Leatherworker.net and have no idea who the BearMan is. Also, there are a lot of new members here every day that read these posts, that have no idea who the BearMan is……… BearMan has been a member here since 2008 and has a Business/Website selling the BearMaul, among other things, and is one of the nicest and kindest fella's around. http://leatherburnis.../BearMauls.html http://www.flickr.co...s/42560042@N03/ BTW - I love my BearMan Maul...
  22. There is something about this topic that just doesn't seem right. I can't quite put my finger on it... Please Forgive me for asking, but... If you want a Rrreally Great Maul like the ones that Ed the BearMan makes, then why not buy a real 'BEARMAUL' from him? http://leatherburnis.../BearMauls.html http://www.flickr.co...s/42560042@N03/
  23. I Love the folks at Springfield Leather

  24. Just some of my rambling thoughts here...... If money is an issue, then maybe you should concentrate on doing what you do the Best for right now. After Christmas - sales slow down for about 2-3 months for a lot of folks, so that might be a good time to hone your leather skills, and also work on making sure your Photography is showing what you are making in The Best Light -- so to speak... If spending is an issue right now - Where are you the most successful? Maybe you should concentrate on Making what you do the Best and work on How to Best show that off... Now might be a good time to tidy up your Etsy site - remove the things that are not selling and put up more of what is... And - Make Sure your Photography is showing what you have in the Best and Clearest Pictures... I am Sooo Impressed with your Eye of the Horse items - they are Your Original Creations and you should be Very Very Proud of those. I see your Etsy sales have been mostly of them - soooo Maybe you should make sure you have a good supply of those for sale, and then work on your other ideas. just some ideas... Very Best Regards
  25. Beautiful work! You are a True Master of the art....... I love looking at your leather work!
