  3. Although, you will probably find others have different reasons to do it earlier on their leather... Most times you will find that "slicking the edge" should be one of the last steps, after dying & antiquing but before the finish.

  8. I think you will notice and you will find that there is a lot of variation in how different leatherworkers use the different products. The Fiebings Antique Paste I have is very thick and if the product is diluted, you will find it works as well and the product will last longer - go further... I use water to dilute some of the Antiques, Dyes, and Finishes... A lot of it is personal experience, personal preference. Try it, test it on some scrap and when you get a result or color you like........ well there you are. ps Don't dilute the original container. Use a small plastic or glass jar and use that for Testing and Using the Diluted Antique. It also helps to label your concoction - the color and how much/what you diluted it with.

  11. As far as cutting this bridle out of leather goes, a Strap Cutter will be helpful for the straight parts. If a company makes lots of these bridles, the other parts are probably cut with a clicker and a cutting die. If You are just making one, you draw out the design you want and then transfer the design to the leather and cut that out.

Thank you all for your answers and for the link WiterBear. I had asked the person on ebay what it was and this is what he had said "The item is not real Genuine leather, the PU leather mean general leather"

I thought PU was an abbreviation for "Pull Up" leather.

  15. Wow, I thought I had a good deal! That's even better. Thanks So Much for Sharing that, Chuck.
  16. I just thought I'd mention an eBay auction I found for brushes that I use to put Barge on leather. I just buy Barge in tubes and put what I need on the leather and spread it with a brush. The brushes are about 14¢ ea. FREE SHIP** ACID FLUX BRUSHES-144 I have never used a glue pot... I wait till I have a lot of things to glue up and then use a brush to spread the glue. These brushes are inexpensive and are easy to use – the bristles are firm yet soft enough. They work out to about .14 cents each. I am curious though about how long the brushes on a glue pot last. Doesn’t the brush in a glue pot collect dried glue and get hard and difficult to use?
  17. Selling your leatherwork Sure feels good, but even better - When you know someone is using what you have made and it is being appreciated by many. Well Done!

  22. I'm right there with you. Want to and tryin to do too much, not enough time in the day... And a day off work, isn't a day off. Heheheh. But it is a day to do what I really want to do.
  23. Everyone’s circumstances are different than ours… buyers and sellers - some are just doing the best they can, some are handicapped, some are just learning, some are getting better with encouragement… some can’t afford better, some know the seller and are trying to be supportive.... some like the item for a number of reasons and if you knew how bad you made someone feel because of your comments about their work, you might not make it public next time.... I think there is room for everyone to try
  24. Oh Yeah, I can see it... real plain...................... (not) Plain or fancy, your work is Fantastic! Your work should be in the Hall of Fame, or at least you should print up a Big Fancy Picture book with all of your work so far. I doubt anyone disagrees with me.
