  1. Really Nice Bob. Love your work! My first thought on seeing your clutch carving was "Grrreat Back-grounding"
  2. There is more on the handle... did you notice? Heritage Tools Arthur IL. (Illinois) I found a Heritage® Foot Press at Weaver Leather... might be they bought the design for the press from the Heritage Tool company that doesn't exist any more? Maybe their parts will fit? Heritage® Foot Press I think I would try talking with Weaver Leather about your press?
  3. Awesome! I am not a skull fan, but I'm really glad I checked out yours... Grrreat tooling & design. I agree with the others - Best skull I have seen in a long time.
  4. Reading this all...... makes me cringe and reminds me of the rule to always cut away from any body parts... mistakes can just draw blood up to a ride to the emergency room. New blade in the utility knife + cutting in the wrong direction + being in a hurry = stitches. Long story made short... * I'm pretty sure everyone reading this topic is remembering the time they learned this
  5. I agree with All Above - I think Your work is Incredible and I bet we all are in agreement that you are on your way to being a Very Very popular leatherworker/artist and your work will be in Great Demand. Awesome Awesome Leatherwork!
  6. I highly recommend the BearMan Maul This 15 oz maul does everything I need it to - it is well balanced and feels good in my hand... easy to use although - a lot of folks have 2 (or more) mauls, 17 oz for the majority of tooling & 12 oz for delicate work. Maybe up to 21 oz for the basketweave stamping.... btw, I've had mine since 3/2011 and it looks/works like new. OH, and I love the title of your topic, Very clever! - Love LOTR!
  7. Thanks for the tutorial and pictures for your Belt Keepers - Very Nice indeed!
  8. Thank You Dwight for sharing all that really good info & picture of your punches... That is Verrrry Cool.
  9. Great idea! I love the artistic minds here at LW.net... Never be afraid to try something new. (It) might just be the next new thing that everyone wants to try...
  10. The "new" comment bumps the topic up to the top... northmount simply chose the 'Bump Smiley" to put in the reply as it was the most relevant smiley to use... there are about 110 smiley's for all kinds of occasions.... He could have chosen to add a comment... this was just a fun, fast and easy way to accomplish the bump
  11. When you 'Bump' a post that action brought the post up to the top of the list of posts where it would be viewed or found easily... not down on page 10, or what ever. The last post on this topic was on June 17 2013 so it was not so easy to find or see.... This is Such a Good Topic, it really should be 'Pinned" so it is always up at the top of the list of posts - along with the other 'Pinned' Really Good and Helpful topics...

  17. Come on Sun - I have leather to tan..... Next time it is out I'm gonna leave a whole hide out in the sun. Can anyone think of a reason this wont work - to “Sun Tan” it Before Tooling?

It will make the leather harder to tool, and it might leave spots of diff color.

Oh man... how does that happen?

      Hey Sylvia - bummer, right?

My best guess...... I see they move the mail around in carts, and they also have a counter in the middle of the main room with slots for recycle paper - cart underneath. I'm guessing that someone was tired and accidentally put the mail cart on the truck for the recycle paper... just a thought.

  19. Ty this - maybe you can make a template from the pictures Fire Helmet Shields Fire Helmet Shield I had not noticed before, but I see there are many different shapes...
  20. Making Frames for my Clocks & also adding Custom Pictures to the leather - what ever a Customer wants. that way I can still use the same rivets etc...
