  1. I ordered the 130 cm one, and it's pretty long. It could work with a stool, but I think I will cut it down to use in a chair.

  3. I'd guess either a leather splitter or embossing machine. Do you have a picture from the front view?
  4. Thanks Monica. This leather is 5/6 oz and appears to be chrome and then veg tanned; it's pretty stiff. I think the sonoma line is more soft than this.
  5. Anyone know what type of leather this is? It's about 5/6 oz. I bought it from Maverick several months ago.
  6. I use a soldering iron with special tips from ebay, but I find it only useful for the first layer; I use it to melt the paint into the leather for a good bond. After that I go through the same process that thefannitor describes above. I went to the hardware store and bought a side by side outlet box, dimmer switch, and outlet. I used those parts to construct a device I use to control the temperature of my soldering iron.
  7. Angle is the same. Height is different.
  8. From what I have read, it is one step lower than cable linen. You have their best stuff!
  9. It's most likely not first grade; John from Horween replied in another thread to this question, and stated that Springfield has bought both grades in the past. I took that as a hint that they are now selling second grade. I would call and ask; curious what they would say.

  11. Yeah, your compass line looks fine, but that's because you are using veg tan. You need the heated creaser when you use chrome tan
  12. It's acrylic paint. You can use Angelus paint for this.
  13. Kenyans don't mind working for 0.25 per hour, that's why
  14. Try looping the thread over the needle during your stitching process.
  15. Those chinese irons have a different shape to them; more like a diamond shape. If you're serious about this, you should get vergez or dixon. Also, at 9SPI I think 432 is a little large - I don't think that is your main problem though; it's probably your technique, as others have noted.
  16. I would go with RIRI if you are looking for a high end zipper. They are of the highest quality and are readily available from buckguy and pacific trimming.
  17. Looks nice. My only suggestion would be to think about putting a liner of some sort to cover the backside of the leather and the zipper.
  18. Most amazing to me is the woman with the long manicured nails doing leather work.
  19. Yes, like a Chicago screw without the threads.
  20. Don't get hung up on having it be a screw then. Just make two pieces that can be glued together, male and female sides?

    Moore & Giles

Arocco, are you affiliated with them in some way? I received some sample swatches from them and they were really nothing special - I certainly wouldn't be paying those prices
