  5. Some good info here, so not archiving it. Have locked the thread so it is still available for reference.
  6. Post it on YouTube (or other host). You can make it private if you wish. ( From what I understand, the public in general won't find it, but it is accessible if you know/have the URL.) Then post the link here. Pretty much all videos are too large to fit the size constraints here. This site also doesn't have the necessary interface to display videos. I tried an MP4 in a PM and it couldn't be displayed. As a moderator, I can post large files, so this was a test to see what it would do.
  7. @Azalyne Skye Moved your post to the Marketplace, machinery, etc. since you are selling rather than wanting.
  8. Nice!
  9. Didn't wipe off the grain side for me. I will only use it on the flesh side, silver on black. Otherwise I use pen on the flesh side. Tiny awl pricks or light scratch on the grain side.

You have been asked to post pictures and to conform to the marketplace rules. You have been provided with a link to help you sort out the best way for you to resize your photos so they are small enough to fit here. If you can send pictures, you can likely use the same process to resize your photos by sending them to yourself. Now is the time to do it. Failure to follow the marketplace rules may result in your for sale posts being taken down. Age is no excuse. Plenty of us in the 70s and 80s year old age group manage it. You may be able to get help from a neighbour or someone in your family if you asked.
  11. Moved to WANTED
  12. @MissyLee If you can't comply with the rules, price your items, etc., I'll lock and move your post to old/sold.
  13. Bolo clip plus a slider for jacket/hood cords. The cord here is cheap Tandy 3/32" lace, 4 strand round braid with no core. Just a trial experiment! The bolo clip tears up the lace when it is slid to adjust the length. Does it on Tandy's cord too! The clamp is not easy to quickly open and close, so your clients wouldn't like that either. The cord sliders I got were from a few years ago, from Mountain Equipment Coop (https://www.mec.ca/en/) I can't find them easily this morning. They are not wide enough for 2 cords, so have to use 2, one on each string. Clamp open Clamp Closed Face for concho
  14. I'll dig one out and take a couple photos for you. The 6mm cord fits the tips, just glue them in. Or tie a knot in the end instead and glue the tips so they don't unravel. Seems to me they have both leather and vinyl cords.
  15. Tandy has bolo tie parts https://tandyleather.ca/products/concho-bolo-slide-clip?_pos=3&_sid=2d924ee8b&_ss=r String diameter is limited. Lots of conchos, only fit on one side, clip compresses to lock the cord, not great for purses.

See this thread for several helps and suggestions.
  20. @Outlaw68 You really need to post some pictures as has been noted in previous posts so people can see the saddle. Very hard to get a true impression from just text. It has been said many times that a picture is worth a thousand words. That really applies here.
  21. @CHT Moved your post to Leather Sewing Machines. You'll get more response here.
  22. Not correct. 550 foot lbs force expended for 1 second is 1 HP. Equivalent to 747.7 Watts. Both are terms of power. You are also mixing imperial/US measurements with metric units. Usually best to stay with one system, or list both systems to help reduce confusion rather than swapping back and forth. Most leatherworkers are not concerned with running stitchers at high speeds, rather they are concerned with starting torque at low speeds, and being able to continue the stitch line at low speeds. Obviously a more powerful motor will be able to provide greater starting torque and that is what is required for stitching thick and/or hard temper leathers. After several trials, many users will go with both a good servo motor, and a speed reduction pulley set to handle these situations. I see this is your first post here. Welcome to the forum. Lots of information and help is available here, and of course all members new or old contribute to that.

  24. Nice Job Stewart. The barn reminded me that my grandfather used to build hip-roofed barns in the early 1900s.
