  1. Review the link above for many suggestions of how you can resize your photos to fit the size restriction here.
  2. @sewingoptimizer Doesn't really look like this belongs in a leather working site. Looks like it is all for textile/dress making machines.
  3. The OP hasn't been back here in over a year. Archiving this post now.
  4. Moved to leather sewing machines. Have you done a search here for any manuals? If not try it out.
  5. First suggestion is to get to know the Leather Sewing Machine area here. Moved your post to this section where you will get a lot more response.
  6. Scroll way down in the list of forums on the home page to the computer help section. Top pinned post has lots of helps. You need to reduce the file size. Lots of ways to do it. Photos are required, please post them. Also, will you ship, what condition is the skiver in, etc.
  7. Plastic wrap over the threads, or over the top of the can before hammering the lid down. You can also displace a lot of air from the container by pushing the plastic inside - like a bag. For large paint cans, I use a plastic bread bag, pocked down inside and laid over the rim of the can. Test the plastic with the solvents to be sure it will work first, that it doesn't get all soft and fall apart.
  8. It was in your signature. You can edit that anytime. I deleted it for you.
  9. You can't but moderators can. I will look after it.
  10. Please identify as soon as an item is sold. Only takes a couple minutes of your time. Saves others wasted time.
  11. If you are going to wear leather hats a lot in the summer, you need either a thick head of hair, or need to add some insulation so the hot leather doesn't lay on your bald head. I often switch to a straw hat on hot sunny days. Winter can be a problem too. Frozen leather on a bald head is not too comfortable. Some of this depends on the hat style. If there is no air gap between a bald head and the leather, the effects are really intensified. I wear an Aussie style hat, low profile; the top rests on my head, so I can tell you current weather conditions! I have at times folded a handkerchief and laid it on the the top of my head to prevent migraine headaches and heat stroke. Felt cowboy hats can be problematic in the summer too. There is good reason to have a selection of hats for the seasons. That selection may include a straw hat, a felt or leather hat, and for cold winter climates (<0C or 32F) something with ear flaps to protect your ears, as well as being able to protect your bald head. Then there's a picture of a cowboy out on a snowy windswept range with a bandana wrapped around his hat and ears. Dual purpose, keep the hat from flying away, and keep his ears from freezing.
  12. Looks like the link didn't give you the best results.
  13. Moved to saddle construction
  14. Soaking until wet through will weaken the bond. Warm water will make it worse. What about just dampening the two sides, then wet molding? I find the leather in general does not need to be soaked through like many do it. Also a can or bottle of contact glue is not that expensive for a test to determine its value for such a case. I'm sure you could find other uses for the remaining cement as well. Follow the directions so you get the best bond to start with. Let it dry for a couple days to set up its strongest bond.
  15. I have missed adding my makers stamp until after the finish was applied. I dampened from the back watched for a little change of colour, and stamped it. Worked fine.
  16. Try this link to ABEBooks https://www.abebooks.com/servlet/SearchResults?isbn=0295976055&cm_sp=mbc-_-ISBN-_-all A good range of prices.
  17. It's a computer related problem, so look under computer help. It is a sticky, in fact, the top one! https://leatherworker.net/forum/forum/33-computer-help/
  18. Welcome to LW. When asking questions, please provide as much info as you can so members can assist with answers that will provide the most help. Photos are helpful too. The size of photos you can upload here is limited, so you may need to resize your images to fit. 800x600 pixels usually provides enough detail, and you could go double that size ans still be able to post several pictures.
  19. Find a friend with a lathe, or go to a machine shop and see what they can do for you. You should be able to figure out the diameter, length, and support pins dimensions from you skiver. You can look at different pictures and scale them to match your skiver to help with the measurements.
  20. @AmericanPatrol Let's not clutter up the forum. When you have additional info or pics to add, just add a post to the original thread instead of creating a new thread.
  21. Old post. I am locking it and archiving it in old/sold
  22. I bought one of these too! Their video looks nice, but I could not get mine to work like in their videos. So it sits in a drawer. Bad purchase. See my post third one from the start of this thread.
  23. Don't understand why you would want to argue with a moderator that has some responsibility for where posts should be! But, to each his own! Seems quite disingenuous to me.
