  1. No matter what the customer tells you they want and you make it their specifications, they will always alter the finished product. Stay calm and carve on.
  2. Ruby Welcome to the best leather site on the internet in my opinion. No one will laugh at you here, I promise. Your work is outstanding. I do not do saddles but have studied their construction and hope to one as good as your some day. It looks like you are well on your way to being an accomplished saddle maker and the chance to laugh at those nay sayers. Good luck, I look forward to seeing more of your work.

  7. Hi: Been asked by a customer to make a mechanics belt. I have googled images and have a pretty good idea of what is needed and have gotten the buckles (thank you Zack White Leather) but I was wondering if anyone had any tips before I get started. For instances, does the buckle require skiving as other belts, what weight leather should be used to cover the buckle? As always I appreciate any help anyone can give.
  8. Hi, may name is John, I can't quit, do not want to quit and when I die I want to be at my work bench with swivel knife in hand. Does that make me a leatherholic?
  9. Cowboy Bob Would you have one of those for a Cowboy 227R, I am having the same problem Cole? The instructions the manufacturer provides for these machines are horrible, love the machine though.
  10. Thanks for posting the patterns and the instructions. That is what this site is all about, sharing, education and just good people.
  11. Thanks, customer gets what the customer wants.
  12. Hoping someone has the Tandy Hipster Wallet #4047 kit for sale at a reasonable price. Have a customer who wants one and I cannot find one anywhere. Maybe someone knows of a supplier that still carries them. Making the exterior is no problem but the interior is outside my range, i.e. I hate making pockets. Appreciate any help. Pounder
  13. Just to chime in here with a thanks to Camano Ridge, I have received some very valuable advice from him that has saved me. He is one of a kind.
  14. I recently e-mailed LC&SJ and suggested they include an articles index on their website. Went so far as to suggest it be open to subscribers only. They said they would look into it, we shall see. I do not know of any PDF for their index, they did have a paper copy for sale at one time but as soon as the next issue hits the stands, the paper copy is out of date.
  15. King's X, thanks for the tip, I will check with the customer to see if she thinks hubby would like that.
  16. Billy Bragg Thanks for the tip, you are right, that thing is huge, been working from the specs from their website and if all is correct it should require a shoulder strap.
  17. I am just pleased to have direction from someone so confident in their style of sizing, cannot wait to put it to use. I am positive my belt orders will increase exponentially.
  18. Geneva, thanks for the belt layout, I will have to print this and try it. I use Chicago screws on all my belts as well. In my original post I indicated I have the waist size or as the customer provides the size of pants the person wears they are purchasing the belt for so your method seems like it will work. Thanks again.
  19. Welcome Dan, nice work on the seat.

  23. Hello All I am In desperate need of a pattern for an LG-G2 phone with an Otterbox cover. I do not have access to the phone to do a paper pattern as it is a gift for a customer relative. Please, please, I could sure use some help with this one. Thanks in advance for any help.
  24. Anyone have any ideas (pictures preferred) of constructing an apparatus to keep letter stamps in line. I have basically the same set up as above but still have trouble lining up letters and stamps. Saw a device on LW once before but for the life of me I cannot find it again.
  25. Nice work Frank and can you slip some of that 60 degrees and sun a little south to Indiana, I could use it as well.
