  1. A very special time indeed, a good to reflect, be thankful, be with family, then clean the shop and get ready for next year and all the blessings it will bring. Merry Christmas to each of you and good tidings to all.
  2. Hello Big Welcome to the best darned leather site on the internet in my honest opinion. If you are interested in leather and all the things you can do with it, this is place and the people here are outstanding. I have been tooling/working leather about 35 years and thought I knew a thing or two until I found this place, man was I wrong. Learned so much from great people willing to share their knowledge and patterns. Anyway I will quit yammering, look forward to seeing some of your work. Pounder
  3. Ray Cheesy as this sounds, I collect leather tools, Doodle pages and leather patterns. I got the bug about 30 years ago but have just recently started collecting patterns. Sure wish I had some of those Tandy patterns I threw away once I was done with the project. Ah well youth and insanity make such a good pair.
  4. Jim, this is just what I needed, thank you for your generosity.
  5. Grey Thanks for the knowledge, I will definitely give it a try.
  6. I would sure like to know more about this Liquid Latex as I have problems with letters as well.
  7. Tandy offers and ergonomic swivel knife, basically a swivel knife with a cushioned grip on the handle. This may help. I will be intrested in other replies you receive as well.
  8. So far I have ordered one custom die from a company that warns their dies are very sharp. After trying it and realizing it would not cut melted butter until I sharpened it, I am looking for another source. When the time comes and it will, I will keep you in mind.
  9. From someone who cannot draw a straight line, thank you to all who provide patterns. A special thanks to tboyce for his great work.
  10. And a Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours as well as all others, may your holiday be blessed.
  11. Enjoy your holidays, we don't mind waiting.
  12. I have my machine, Cowboy 227R, about a year now. Like you when I got it I had never sewn on a machine . Best advice I can give is get some scrap and practice, practice then practice some more. Biggest hurdle I had to over come was not be afraid of the machine, let it be afraid of you, of course I have had to take it to a local shop a time or two and still am not at the level I want to be. It is getting easier, the stitches look better and the corners don't wander as much and I still practice everyday. Only regret I wish I had gotten a larger machine, oh well practice with a Volkswagen then drive a Cadillac.
  13. Welcome Luka to the best leather site on the internet IMHO. Look forward to seeing some of your tooling. Best advice I can pass on, practice, practice and practice some more. John
  14. Welcome Joe, look forward to seeing some of your projects.
  15. Nice, can't wait to see it completed.
  16. Got to take moment and thank everyone for the great tips on music. Soon as I finish some projects I will be on the hunt for some of these. Do like some Tom T. Hall, Kenny Rogers and Ed Bruce, the old country, this new stuff sucks.
  17. I am glad for this post and hope it receives several responses so I can get exposed to different artists. Personally I listen to country music especially John Denver (yes that dates me) but am always seeking other artists along that line. Soft and mellow is my way to go although I throw in some celtic when I want to liven things up a bit.
  18. You might check out Al Stohlman's "The Art of Making Leather Cases", Volume Three has several patterns for scabbards and how to make them. Got one the list of things to make but I got to take care of customers first and then there is those darn bills to pay. Anyway good luck.
  19. Biglew PM sent, thank you, thank you, thank you.
  20. JSLeather I appreciate the direction, not sure why I am having such difficulty with this. I have made several belts and never had an issue. This time just does not seem to be working, maybe I have upset the leather gods or it is time to get the old head checked. Either way, I will give it a shot. Thanks.
  21. A BIG THANK YOU to Wishful and Camano Ridge, I now have the mallets I need. You both have my word I will pay this kindness forward. You two are the best.
