Welcome to forum, you are well on your way. Your posted pictures show good work and time will only make it better. Making mistakes, at least for me, is half the fun of leather work. I have done the gusset thing to many times that I should know better but I bet I do it again, just to big of a hurry to see the finished product. Look forward to seeing more of your projects.

First, WELCOME to the forum, best leather site on the internet IMHO and the people are great. As far as getting started, search this forum for that topic, there should be several replies. Tools needed range in a variety of prices and several will tell you to get the best you can afford right off the bat but if you are like me I cannot afford $40. plus for one stamping tool or more for a gouger or skiver or whatever. Tandy is good place to start with tools, their leather has something to be desired, again My opinion but it will depend on the manager of that store and how willing they are to help. I started leather 30+ years ago when I was a police officer in a small town and had to go a a moment notice, needed something I could drop and come back to without any problems. Now it is my business after retirement. Look forward to following your progress and seeing some of your completed projects. If you need any help just ask.

For my 2 cents, all of my customers are told the interior is not made by me and they do not care, they are more interested in the design I place on the exterior which is generally their idea. I do let them choose which interior they like and tell them up front the cost which is included into the cost of the designed wallet.

Unfortunately the company where I purchased my machine only provided the original instructions. I will not name them as they advertise on this site and the machine is quality but I spent as much time trying to understand the instructions as I did using the machine. I was able to get some really great assistance from some of the experts on this site and I never had to wear noodles.

Very nice, definitely make them a custom collectors item, not that you would ever get rid of them.

Welcome to the best leather working internet site in the world IMHO. Don't be overwhelmed by it all, find what you want to do then go at it one step at a time. It is a journey not a race. Study, ask questions, embrace the mistakes and enjoy the fellowship.
