  1. After the sewing is complete, lifting the foot releases tension. I lift the foot and pull the thread from above the needle. Not related to your sewing problem but just mentioning it.
  2. Send him to one of these shops ... https://www.google.com/search?q=colorado+springs+shoe+repair+shops&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
  3. I bought the same machine from Bob and I'm very happy with it.
  4. Howdy, from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
  5. I'm glad you mentioned this, the "x"doesn't show up until I run the cursor over it.
  6. These are some images to get some ideas https://www.google.com/search?q=images+of+rifle+slings&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=9wR&tbo=u&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&tbm=isch&source=univ&sa=X&ei=ABmkUKODGOa42wWTgoGQCw&ved=0CC4QsAQ&biw=792&bih=432 You can make the top end fixed and the bottom adjustable, the end straps should be 1 inch wide and secured with chicago screws. http://www.chuckhawks.com/sling.htm An average length would be about 44 inches from end to end with the bottom of the strap having a series of holes for adjustment.
  7. Nicely done, I have a couple of favorites but they all look good.
  8. I had a similar problem with the forward and reverse stitches not lining up. Make a forward stitch then make a separate reverse stitch and measure the distance between the holes to see if there is a difference. It could be just a simple adjustment on the stitch length in reverse or forward. Kevin
  9. Thanks Leder; The leather is 5 oz. The mold itself is made from cedar wood and a router bit was used to make the channel in which the leather is pressed into. I can use one piece of leather and cut two separate cases from each one. The leather is soaked in water, worked into the mold then a plastic plug is placed on top of the leather. A plywood top sits on top of the mold block and is pressed down using a shop press. It takes about five minutes to set it up and press it. I've made different sizes for different projects, here's another for a screw driver bit case.
  10. Check the web, http://rockinghorseemporium.co.uk/rocking-horse-shop/index.php?route=product/category&path=59
  11. Color will define it, you can try sand paper for spray affect, rub it into the damp leather and touch it off with white paint. http://www.lightstalking.com/waves
  12. Thanks Cheryl; It's a nice snug fit so when you remove the chap stick the other end of the stick stays in the case. When I get a minute I'll mold a couple of the outer cases and send them to you to play with. Kevin.
  13. Tiara The skin won't rot if it's been tanned. Neatsfoot normally will lighten a little as it dries and glycerin shouldn't hurt as it is used in preserving reptile hides.
  14. When I cut circles I put the pin in the back of the leather and cut from the back.
  15. Make one for yourself and wear it at the next show. Maybe exotic cat collars!
  16. You can put snaps on those book marks and call them bracelets without too much effort.
  17. Looking good Cheryl, congratulations on doing the show.
  18. If I was attempting that I would consider wet molding the leather to a mold or to the canteen in two pieces. Do you want a single seam or two separate seams on the outer edges?
  19. I spray the leather strop and wipe off the deposits.
  20. Thanks Wiz, yes I'm using the S point.
