After the sewing is complete, lifting the foot releases tension. I lift the foot and pull the thread from above the needle. Not related to your sewing problem but just mentioning it.

These are some images to get some ideas https://www.google.com/search?q=images+of+rifle+slings&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=9wR&tbo=u&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&tbm=isch&source=univ&sa=X&ei=ABmkUKODGOa42wWTgoGQCw&ved=0CC4QsAQ&biw=792&bih=432 You can make the top end fixed and the bottom adjustable, the end straps should be 1 inch wide and secured with chicago screws. http://www.chuckhawks.com/sling.htm An average length would be about 44 inches from end to end with the bottom of the strap having a series of holes for adjustment.

I had a similar problem with the forward and reverse stitches not lining up. Make a forward stitch then make a separate reverse stitch and measure the distance between the holes to see if there is a difference. It could be just a simple adjustment on the stitch length in reverse or forward. Kevin

Case For Nivea Stick
Tree Reaper replied to Tree Reaper's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Thanks Leder; The leather is 5 oz. The mold itself is made from cedar wood and a router bit was used to make the channel in which the leather is pressed into. I can use one piece of leather and cut two separate cases from each one. The leather is soaked in water, worked into the mold then a plastic plug is placed on top of the leather. A plywood top sits on top of the mold block and is pressed down using a shop press. It takes about five minutes to set it up and press it. I've made different sizes for different projects, here's another for a screw driver bit case. -

Color will define it, you can try sand paper for spray affect, rub it into the damp leather and touch it off with white paint. http://www.lightstalking.com/waves

Case For Nivea Stick
Tree Reaper replied to Tree Reaper's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Thanks Cheryl; It's a nice snug fit so when you remove the chap stick the other end of the stick stays in the case. When I get a minute I'll mold a couple of the outer cases and send them to you to play with. Kevin. -
When I cut circles I put the pin in the back of the leather and cut from the back.
