  3. Thanks.
  4. I have the same issue and hope you find an answer. I am looking to buy an item called modge podge that is supposed to give the edge a nice finish. That may be a good alternative.
  5. All of them are fantastic. Where do you get your leather from?
  6. Welcome
  7. Tandy has a lace cutter that might help,it even says it is for braids. http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/en-usd/search/searchresults/3112-00.aspx Where in NB are you, I was in Doaktown in august visiting family.
  8. For another perspective, on a budget: I just bought my first sewing machine, an old singer industrial sewing machine (241-02) rated to medium heavy. It is not walking foot or servo motor - it is a high speed machine so I am getting use to it but it is sewing several layers of upholstery leather without problems - just finished my first purse too. cost was $50 on Craigslist! the ideal is walking foot, servo motor, etc but bottom line, there are acceptable machines for good prices. Do your research here then see what you can find. If and when you can afford it, go for the better machines. Good luck.
  9. If i understand you correctly, I would use a104 or 888 backgrounders . Another alternative is to use a modeling spoon but you will not get a texture. Good luck.
  10. Very nice!
  11. I like your sunflowers, fun project.
  12. Welcome, you are off to a great start. The suggestion I have is to not form the leather around the trigger itself on your sr22.
  13. Very nice.
  14. Great job!
  15. Tandy has a gold and silver water stain that might work for you
  16. Not sure if this is what you are looking for but there is a technique called glazing that smooths out the leather. Here is a link describing it http://en.m.wikipedi...Glazing_machine tandy sells a piece of glass to do this
  17. They still look great and I am sure the boys will love them
  18. That looks great. I keep mine in those wooden blocks but it looks cluttered, but handy.
  19. Looks like fun, how is the top side attached?
  20. In LA there is the gene Autry western museum that has a nice sample of saddles. http://theautry.org/exhibitions/ it is next to the LA zoo if you are in to that.
