  1. Standard response: AL Stohlmans The art of making leather cases 1,2 and 3. Can be bought at the leathercraft library: https://www.leathercraftlibrary.com/c-79-ebooks.aspx? Inexpensive education
  2. Hi, this book covers filigree in good detail: https://www.leathercraftlibrary.com/p-1155-al-stohlmans-top-20.aspx
  3. Try these guys: http://www.leathersmithdesigns.com/leather-craft-supplies.htm
  4. Just a heads up - I got a new price list from Tandy. Their prices are going up again Mar 01, 2013 - ouch.
  5. Very nice. What is the name of the stitch you are using? Applique or?
  6. I just saw a few sets of these at the Tandy store in San Berardino, ca for $30. I am sure they will ship whereever you are.
  7. "Me either. Kinda pisses me off... Nice find OP!" - Guess you need to go to more yard sales!" Actaully I have found several good finds over the last year or two. Keep trying! I see there was one for sale at ebay for $50.00 - it didn't sell...and one at etsy for $15.00 that did...That is Verrrry Cool! I want one..." I could be persuaded....
  8. Well, I have not tried wood working tools but before the modern era - a lot of tools were made out of necessity and can have multiple purposes. Give it a go and see how it does but do practice on the swivel knife as I think you will attain the best results.
  9. Found this old tin box at a garage sale. Guy wanted $10 at first but I got it for $5. Only 1 old stamp in it but lots of snaps and misc stuff. Never saw this before but thought it would be fun to have.
  10. I'd say you learned a lot! Patterns, assembly, and stitching, etc. Good first job.
  11. I think they are all interesting and unique and will appeal to many folks.
  12. I agree that it is pricey, even on sale. The best place to get patterns for a case like that is Al Stohlmans "the art of making cases vol 2 & 3" you can get them at Tandy or online at the leathercraft library. The books are great and have similar type cases.
  13. I like it too. What weight of leather did you use and did you make the pattern?
  14. I got the email too and although I know they were announced previously as high end, I was surprised at the price. I think they should have stepped up the quality of the "cheap" ones but charge a bit more. Personally, I will still look for the old craftools which can be had for much less than these new ones.
