First time with this embossed gator. I like it. Kind of on the thinner side for my machine to sew, but made it work basically. Anyway. Embossed gator and pig skin liner. thanks, Eddie

New Techniques For Me
Eddie1968 replied to MorningStarL's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Looks pretty good. I remember handstitching sheaths/scabbards in the past. The backside would always give me trouble too. I ended up using a drill press to make holes. If you use a stitch groover you can make a very nice sewing line front and back. I also noticed your leather is very thick on the edge. you could skive it down a bit and it might be a little easier. Other than that i can only suggest a sewing machine!! lol. This was done with a drill press for the holes and hand stitched. Hope this helps. Eddie- 6 replies

Looks good to me! nice work. Eddie -
Journal cover is 4 oz veg tanned finished with antique mahogany, with airbrushed tan kote and acrylic resoline and then machine stitched. Koozie is 4 oz veg tanned with an attempt at an airbrushed sunburst finish. hand stitched the vertical seam. that was a pain. Fairly pleased with out come. Thanks Eddie

I'm no expert either but oak leaves are one of my favorite things to do. there are numerous leaf designs as well as different tools and techniques, etc, to get the desired looks your after. I've found a few that work for me so that's what I stick with. Looks like to me your off to a great start! Stay at it! Eddie
