    Your tooling looks pretty nice. My biggest critique is to stop using round holes and punch slits instead. Also move the holes closer to the edge, it helps with the spider leg look and makes it look more "covered" along the edge. Aaron

    I think angling them is a matter of form over function. A slanted hole is longer and can allow the holster to shift and rotate out of position easier, straight holes hold the holster tighter into position. But they look cool.

    Most pig is pretty thin, so if you are going to stamp it I am guessing you may have issues. You can brand it. I would get the leather damp first and you will likely have pretty good luck.

    Put a stone on your angle grinder and you can soften/roll the edges pretty easy. Keep moving side to side, do not stay in one spot. Pretty easy to do the basic shaping of the edge profile. If you want it polished you will need some diamond pads.

    The cut and polish changes everything. Cut to size and polished changes it from scrap to a table top. You were treated fairly.

    Learn to sew by hand. When you have made a lot of money buy a sewing machine. One that will sew leather is not cheap and the shortcuts just cost more money.

    The welt was sewn to the midsole at the class on a Landis sewing machine. I do not have a Landis, so my next pair will be hand sewn. I am used to that anyways so no problem doing that.

    That may be true, but remnants are a lot differant than retail price. This remnants are the scraps that are too short to use for counter tops. The shops buy a slab and have little control over the size of it. They charge the customer for the slab, the remnant is just sitting there. Then when comeone comes in and wants a bathroom sink slab they have it to use. If it is too short for that, they take them to the landfill and pay by the ton to dispose if them.

    Thank you to everyone. I am already working on the patterns to make another set and do some tweaks on them. Wearing them at work and they almost got a bad initiation working on a poo lift station that has failed pumps in it. They survived though and luckly did not take a bath in it (very close though, it was a bad situation). Aaron

    Wow, for that price I hope he rounded and polished the edges. He was honest when he said the scrap it. They pay to get rid of it, and have a lot of it. If he cut it to size it is a little different. I can buy a prefinished counter top 8' long polished on the front and one end for just over $100. Labor is the main cost on granite counter tops.

    Thank you. These are the first set that I have made. I took a class on shoe making and walked out with the set. I am hoping to make a few more pair in the next months.

    Is there any interest here in a group buy? Tentatively looking like a 500 meter roll will go for about $50 to your door. If I have to front the money it would be a little more. Aaron

    That is why I figured that it would be better to put 20 rolls in one box rather than 20 boxes.
