  1. Spend a few dollars on a 4, 5 or 6ft ruler at the hardware store. Worked for me. Someone else will probably have a better idea though. Horn
  2. That's beautiful. Wish I could braid but I might need to learn how to tie my shoes first. Horn
  3. Beautiful work as always. Thank you for sharing the pictures of the construction. Horn
  4. Welcome aboard! Like electrathon/Aaron said we've got our little group that meets up and hopefully we'll see you guy's there sometime. Horn
  5. ducjes, Thanks for sharing this. It's the how-to's like this that made my 1st wallet possible. I'm sure this will come in handy for folks looking to get started with wallets. Horn
  6. Just sent in a request for the fb page. Looks like an interesting group. Horn
  7. Looks like your granddaughter has good choice in entertainment Horn
  8. Depending on how much you want to buy at one time. Check the grooming section for VanDerHagen glycerin shave soap. Small pucks of soap that come in a handy (albeit cheap) plastic "conatiner" inside the cardboard display box. Horn
  9. Looks like some beautiful leather. I can't wait to see how this turns out. Thanks for sharing Horn
  10. Either way best of luck to you. I'm hoping that this works out to be a beneficial venture for both you and your customers. Horn
  11. I just got the download. Not too bad I guess. The patterns are set up to print on A1 paper so you'll end up burning through quite a few sheets of A4 if you print it in tiles. Horn
  12. You'd be between 112 & 124 inches (I don't have to do too much of that calculation as most of what I ship ends up well undersized). Something that long though would probably have an additional handling fee (approx $5) because of the size it wouldn't make it through the conveyors so would need alternate transport through a hub. As for having something set on top...couldn't really give any suggestions on that. Normally though the small pack trucks aren't loaded to the brim when they pick up or deliver. Unless you end up on the same route as an Amazon distributor or something like that. Additionally it wouldn't cost too much to insure. 1st hundred is automatically part of the price and then you'll pay for I think $500 insurance for three or four bucks then about 80 cents per hundred afterward up to $50k which hopefully you wouldn't need. Horn Having a heck of a day. Totally missed the "wrapped" portion at the beginning of your last post. Honest'y though. Boxes are probably what you are going to need.
  13. Joann's, McCalls, Craftsy, etc.. I've been checking out this site a bit lately for the Messenger and Courier bag patterns http://www.thegreenp....com/packs.html They are all set up for cloth sewing but a little modification and they can become Leather patterns. Horn Sorry for the double post. Bugged out on me when I tried the first time
  14. Joann's, McCalls etc.. They are all set up for normal cloth sewing but with a little creativity they can turn into leather patterns. The one I've been looking at recently is http://www.thegreenpepper.com/packs.html Horn
  15. Being a shipping guy for a living I would suggest contacting UPS and/or FedEx (ground). UPS ground service is 4 business days (outside of the Christmas season). Being a company you could potentially negotiate well below street rates depending on expected volume in/out. The only issue I might see for the hides is the size. Normally anything over (I think) 144 cubic inches (2x width plus 2x girth) is considered oversize and might end up pushing into truck freight but that is something a rep could help you figure out. They make house calls for free when they have a new potential business customer. Horn
  16. That's what I started using. Couldn't get the hang of the others and had the tandy French edger sitting there...Still takes a little practice but far better results for me. Just picked up a larger C.S. Osborne French edger that will help make things a little more efficient with fewer passes. Horn
  17. Yes. Beautifully done. Thanks for sharing Horn
  18. Dwight's idea is great especially for avoiding the import taxes. Another option would be to find a local person who does wood working/turning and see about working out a trade for a set of burnishers. Could be good for both parties Just a thought Horn
  19. Welcome aboard. Where in the PNW are you located? Horn
  20. Welcome to the wonderful world of leather :} Horn
