Modeling clay that you can bake in the oven would only require your hands to shape. Mistakes would be easy to fix before baking. No sealer required after baking. Win win win.

Baking soda or cat litter will help pull out some of the excess oil.

If the leather is oil tanned it can interfere with some glues holding power and length of time they will hold. -

Harness leather is usually stuffed with waxes and oils, so I would say no.

Very nice. Love everything about it except the D ring. Do you use some sort of needle with the paracord? -
Getting them wet and pulling them around something round like a dowel held in a vice will remove most of the curl.

Make sure you are pulling the handle down until it stops.

Are you holding onto the ends of the thread for the first couple of stitches?

I tie the ends together in a square knot.

I always try to knot my thread when possible.
