I would like to know if anyone has purchased "RUSSET DOUBLE SHOLDERS" from S-T Leather Co. I purchase all my dyes & finishes from them, Feibings oil dye, edge kote etc. There prices can't be beat ! I've also purchased some "economy tooling & lining goat, & pig which for the price isn't that bad. But I've never purchased there "double sholders". HAS ANYONE USED THERE DOUBLE SHOLDERS ? If so, how is it ????

Matt, What do you mean length ?? Length of what ? I understand stitches per inch, but where is the length measured ?

I use a overstitch wheel to mark my stitch spaces before I use my awl. I was thinking about using a PRICKING IRON, after seeing one in use by someone on this fourm. My question is, where to purchase one for 5 or 6 per inch without going broke. Like mabey $100.00 ??? WHO MAKES A GOOD ONE , & HOW ARE THEY SIZED ?

To make it look more true, you need some decoritive cuts , on the leaves, & flowers.

I do a lot of hand sewing. I use an overstitch wheel, & diamond awl to make holes in 8/9 oz. leather. I was wondering if I could use a pricking iron instead. It would save a lot of time & energy. I seen Huno using it, but that was on light weight leather. Will I get the same effect using the pricking iron on 8/9 oz. bridle leather ? Here is a photo of what I mean.

Another way is to make a template so the tip end, & buckle end come out the same. Take off 6 inches at buckle end, & about 8 to 8 &1/2 " on the tip end. Like Cheryl said,cutting 1/4" off, at a 45' angle.
