I found a great place to put your rouge. You know, that stuff we use to keep our swivel sharp... I used a greeting card.. It't a good backing for the rouge to be applied to... Also, you just close the card, & it keeps the rouge from getting all over the place.. Try it, I think you'll like it ..........

Gene Noland, a History of the Leather Craftsman
craftsman827 replied to Deno's topic in Leather History
Hi Dennis, Sorry to here about your dad. He was a great asset to our trade. I use to love his " Craftool Corner " he wrote in every issue of , Make It With Leather magazine. Beautiful projects! I couldn't wait for the next issue. For you who don't remember " Make It With Leather", it was a magazine in the 1970's devoted to leathercraft like the current "Leathercraftman & Saddlers Journal".... Can't wait to see some of Geno's work... One question Dennis, How old was dad when he passed ? PS: He also use to entertain the troups over seas with his wife. They did magic tricks etc. Am I correct, Dennis if I remember correct ?? -
VERY NICE TOM , Looks Beautiful ! ! ! Did you hand, or machine stitch it ?? Can't tell, looks that good....

Here is a couple of photos of a handbag I just compleated. I buy Tandy kits when they have a good sale. I'm making as many things as I can for an upcomming flea market there is going to be where I live in south New Jersey. It's in the town of Smithville about 10 miles north of Atlantic City. It's a great old town, with a lot of history. Dating back to the 1700's...There's about 100 diferent small shops, & twice a year they have tables outdoors. The first one of the year is in May, so I'm going to give it a try, & sell my leathercraft. I'll post some photos of the Mayfest. Hope it goes well. Any sugestions about selling, or presentation would be greatly appreaceated !

GREAT LOOKIN CASE ! ! ! I thint he's talking where you closed the U on the belt loop. I like the way you dyed the inside, you did dye the inside ?? Also if your using nails or tacks you can kote them with some lac then you wont get the marks on the leather. When I mold ,I don't use any tacks, & it seems to hold it's shape pretty good, try it on the nexe one. GREAT JOB. Keep up the good leatherwork ! -
I havn't posted anything in some time. Here is something my wife wanted for the kitchen. Hope you like it, it's from an old Tandy pattern.

Red and black
craftsman827 replied to jawilliams's topic in Dyes, Antiques, Stains, Glues, Waxes, Finishes and Conditioners.
If you want the color to last use dye. Also to get a good & bright RED, try to get the leather light as posable. Veg taned leather has many different shades to begin with. So try and get the lighest you can. Also you may want to reduce the red just a little. so it dont come to dark. -
