  2. Very Nice Work ! ! ! Saddle is lookin realy good. The scetch book is beautiful ! I'm a sucka for nicely done Sheridan Leather. I've been toolon for a while, but never made a saddle, one day soon. For your first one, it looks just great . Make sure you post the finished work, with plenty of photos. And by the way welcome to the site..
  3. Rawhide, That is a beautiful lamp! Your uncle will be proud to display it in his house, I know I would. I love doing projects for the house, that are also functional. Was it a kit, or did you make it from scratch? If so, is there a pattern you worked from? I would love to make one for my mother, she is a horse lover, & still rides at 70 +
  4. THIS IS ONE BEAUTIFUL GUN LEATHER ! ! ! The carving is great. One question, what tool did you use for the background of the scroll? If it was a bar grounder, which ones? Maker etc.
  5. TOM, Those pedal covers are GREAT ! ! ! I bet car collectors would love them also. Good idea to sell them at car shows. Again, GREAT WORK TOM.

  7. singteck, This is one fine piece of craftmanship ! ! ! Is it lined, if not is it dyed on the inside, wondering how it's black on the inside. I realy like the pouch. Can't wait to see the next one. Great for insperation !
  8. I was just going through my stamping tool, cataloging them. Some of the craftools have : CRAFTOOL CO. USA others have : CRAFTOOL USA some smaller letters than others. Does anyone know the difference? I think some are older than others, but does anyone know the years they were made? I bought most of them in the 1970's
  9. WOW, thats realy nice ! ! ! How did you finish it ? Neat lac, Antique ?? Thats realy great lookin.
  10. VERY NICE work ! THere is an adult section where you can post the "so called X rated work"
  11. Marlon, You were right ! I received my order from Tandy. I've been using my new maul, the 1 lb. I like it.It's great for tooling the carving area of my leather. For stamping I'll prob. use the mallet. But the maul feels realy nice. Mallets have there place, & so do mauls, I guess it's just the person's preference. But I'm glad I bought the maul. After all these years. So I guess you can teach an old (leathercrafter) new tricks. lol Thanks for your imput Marlon, Your friend in leather, Peter I. aka craftsman827

  16. VERY nicely done ! ! ! Is the checkbook hand sewen, or done by machine ? I love Sheridan designs, and your's does it just fine. I know it is traditional to use bar grounders for the background, but , just a question, can you use like tool (A104) instead??? I'm doing a sheridan design now, & I don't have barground tools. One last question, where did the pattern come from?? GREAT CHECK BOOK ! ! !

  20. Here are the wallets I am working on at the moment. One is finished, the other I'm still working on. This is an order for the painters that are painting our condo complex. It's funny how I got the order. The one painter was on the ladder painting our outside, I was on our indoor portch which doubles as my workshop, as he was painting, he saw me toolin, & asked if I could make him a wallet. The other painter saw it & he wants one,so you never know where your next order may come from!!! I WANT TO THANK TOM SWEDE & BOB FOR GIVING ME THE GREAT PATTERNS. You see thats what makes this site so great!!!! For if we don't share our knowlage & pass it on, our great craft won't be the same.
  21. what weight leather do you use for the soles ?
  22. jbird, Sheridan is a trade show held in Sheridan Wyoming once a year. This year was the 15th annual. Leather classes are held, tool makers, tanneries, etc. are also there selling & demo. there wares. It's a gerat place for leathercrafters & such to get together. There is also the world leather debut, where craftsmen enter there items to be judged in different catagories. AND THERE IS A LOT MORE, too much to list. You get the idea.
  23. WOW ! ! ! Great lookin chinks. Just a quick question Andy. How do you finish the carving ?? Do you oil, what type of finish do you use ?? Love the way the finish looks.
  24. Just Beautiful !! What kind of leather did you use?? I am thinking of making one for my mother. She still rides at 70 years young. I use mostly veg taned leather, but I think when doing bridles head stalls etc. You use diferent leather. Thats why the question.
