    Beak question

The mask looks great! Does it have to be sewn? Just a thought, how about cementing the beak to the face??? A good cement like bardge might do the trick.
  2. I would like to download spell check for this web site. When I click on spell check while writing a post, it takes me to a site to download,ieSpell. There are 5 different ones on ieSpell. Which one is the best one to download????
  3. Just love your work ! Visited your web site, FAB !!! I've been working with leather for many years. Just the last 2 years I've taking it more serious. SO I'm thinking of buying some new tools for sheridan work. WHAT BRAND TOOLS ARE YOU USING ? I know a good craftsman can use any tools, but I just have my old craftools, which ain't bad, just I've been hearing so much on this forum about Barry King & Bob Beard's tools. Just thought I'd give a couple of new tools a try. $$$$ IS TIGHT' so just a few I can afford right now. Any input would help.
  4. BEAUTIFUL work Andy ! It's good to have you aboard this site. I love Sheridan work, I've been doing leather work for awhile, I just got interested in Sheridan style. How long you been doing leather work?
  5. VERY NICE ROGER, The dye job is exquisit ! Also like the trad. carving mixed with your scroll work. Great job as usual.
  6. Marlon, I don't lean my elbow while tooling. I have the $120.00 credit at Tandy, so I thought I'd try the 1 lb. maul. You see I'v always use a mallet, just wanted to try a maul. There are no more leather supply stores where I live, so everything is mail order. It's nice to have the luxary to try a tool out before buying it, but I don't. Thanks for your input it's always welcome.
  7. WOW shorts, If you used gorilla glue you prob. have to drill the holes. I use gorilla glue on my day job, it hardens like cement! So try using a drill, or roto tool. GOOD LUCK ! PS. Bardge is great. I use it all the time. I just bought a gallon of Master cement, the supplier recomended it. ANYBODY EVER USE MASTER CEMENT ??
  8. indy, Thanks for getting the answer, Thanks to all. I spoke to the manager at the tandy store where I purchased, by the way, it was the last one of that type that comes with both heads. It was on sale last month, a close out sale, but I missed the sale. I paid $119.00 Tandy wholesale price, thats still expensive. The manager said I could return it which is what I think I'll do, & just purchase the one with the poly head, it's half price at $60.00. I just wanted to try a maul, after pounding my trusty mallet for 35 years thought I'd try a maul. I'll let you know which one I like better after I get the new one.

  21. I just purchased an Al Stolhman brand maul. It comes with two heads. I want to change from the poly head to the rawhide head. It came with NO instructions. I emailed TANDY,they got back to me Said they DIDNOT know how to chacge the head, that I should just keep the poly head on, but I want to use the rawhide one! Does anyone know how to change the head?
  22. That's just great ! It's so nice to have a team do such beautiful work together. You guys have to be very proud of your work ! They both should be entered at the show in Sheridan this month. BRAVO

  24. Very nice carving. About the painting & other finishing. I would suggest getting a book about the subject. Al Stholman & Peter Main both have good books. Either one will give you what you need on the subject of coloring leather. Tandy,S&T, Zack White, all carry the book, along with many oyher suppliers. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK.
