Picked up a 'Patcher' this weekend
Constabulary replied to Chayse's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
29K71 are more or lest the most modern machines of this type - beside CLAES patchers - you almost find any part of it as after market part since the Chinese copied this machine almost 1:1 (with some small exception). I have restored a 29K71 in even worse condition a few years back. Manual and detailed parts list are available. Its worth the restoration and it is no big deal, these machines are easy to work with. I got my parts from College Sewing in the UK but most parts are avail. on Ebay or most known sewing machine dealers. -
3:1 Speed reducer for EU customers

nothing wrong with DIY reducers - mine are DIY too (more or less). Just wanted to give a hint since the out of the box reducers are not widely spread on the continent. -

Mechanically no advantage but some prefer "out of the box" things and don´t want to bubba something or don´t have the capabilities for making (f.i.) something hight adjustable. I wish I had this source a few years back but I`m pleased with what I have. -
Not mine but I just found this on Ebay Germany. Seller takes Paypal and accepts offers even free shipping inside Germany - not too bad. http://www.ebay.de/itm/Kugellager-Drehzahlregler-fur-schwere-Industrienahmaschinen-/112456993576?hash=item1a2ef58b28:g:SVAAAOSw9GhYkdIk You barely find them for sale on the continent...

Guessing you have a long shaft Pfaff foot then loosen the clamp on the presser foot bar and lower / reposition it.

Constabulary replied to ScarlettStarlett's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I guess your needle hit a hard spot and pushed the needle bar up. Check the needle / hook timing of your machine.You most likely have to lower the needle bar a tiny bit. You can download a 205 service manual here: https://www.duerkopp-adler.com/en/main/downloads/manuals.html -

if you cut it here you can even use the pulley on the old stud - maybe the SIRUBA stud could work then if you cut it here the pulley could spin on the 29K stud - on my 29K stud measures 8.5mm (its from CS) lets hope the FROBANA stud is not hardened. -

It requires cutting, drilling and / or taping thread but maybe you can rework this 29K stud. https://www.college-sewing.co.uk/store/413D-ADJUSTING-NUT-SIDE-SINGER-29K or this one: https://www.college-sewing.co.uk/store/A113F-TENSION-STUD-SIRUBA-NEW-STYLE But you may need the matching tension nut as well since the threading could be different. -

Alex, check with ottobock-Josamerica for a new tension unit stud, they still run the Frobana type machines: https://www.ottobock-josamerica.com/de/produkten/75-20-2910-0.html?Itemid=266&___store=de what is the inner diameter of the tension pulley - I probably have another idea of how to fix it... -

Singer 132K SV 11 -> a 132K6 variant?
Constabulary replied to Constabulary's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Right, K6 has a snap (or jump) foot system but the foot bar on my KSV11 that holds the roller foot (which is not original to this machine) is the same as on the K6 but on the K6 it is holding the not moving "inner" foot. The mechanism on the back side is quite the same as on the K6 but on the K6 is "controls" the movement of the outer foot via a bell crank lever and on my KSV11 it is controlling the movement of the knife bar. As I said this is a very wild and rough idea and it most likely will take a few month until I have all parts together - if it is possible at all. I could use this machine as a standard drop feed machine w/o problems but thats no challenge (I love the tinkering) and I already have a Singer 45D91 and 133K3 with drop feed. So we will see how far I can get... -
Singer 132K SV 11 -> a 132K6 variant?
Constabulary replied to Constabulary's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Thanks a lot Bob. In theory its looks like it could work... Or not.... So from what I can see and what I can see in my parts list I at least need this: 97729, 97730, 97731, 97736, 97737, 97742, 97802 + some screws -
Singer 132K SV 11 -> a 132K6 variant?
Constabulary replied to Constabulary's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Finally I have it here - it indeed is a forerunner or prototype (SV machine) of the later 132K12 or maybe it is a SV because it came with additional accessories that the standard 132K12 - who knows... As expected - the machine is not in its original configuration (no knife installed, different needle plate roller foot...) - thats too bad. The knife rod still works and the lever on the face plate side is for engaging the knife bar and the lever on the back is for disengaging the knife bar - JFTC someone is interested. Serial number dates it to 1948 Tension unit needs a new spring, I have to replace the feed dog. I alreday added a new needle plate. I think the right plate of a 45K can replace the original right side plate... So not much "basic work". Original paint and decals are in very good condition. So what can I do with it? Completing - I guess - it`s not possible since K12 parts are no longer available I guess and I have no use for a machine with trimming device (or do I? Naaaa...). My (rough) idea would be trying to turn it into a 132K6 - if it is possible at all. The mechanism on the backside looks pretty similar - so my question is can some one who owns a 132K6 help me with some picture of a 132K6 with removed faceplate so I can compare parts and their location (my parts list does not include an exploded drawing) It is just a very rough and maybe ambitious idea and I know I most likely have to rework the casting... Anyway - I have not paid very much for it and I would give it a try. So I´d really appreciate if some 132k6 owner could post a few good pictures of the mechanics of the backside and behind the face plate -
Cylinder bed USSR leather sewing machine
Constabulary replied to olariuciprian's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Maybe PODOLSK? Not much is known of former Soviet sewing machines in the western hemisphere - you will probably find more information in former soviet influenced countries (no offense, just a fact). You barely find information on some certain older Singer sewing machines from GB or the US so information on Soviet sewing machines are even harder to find I guess. I´d try STRIMA in Poland, maybe they know more. -
for decorative stitches Singer 110W are nice - they have a continuous wheel feed dog and are fully gear driven.

Singer 111Wsv65 Info, Please...
Constabulary replied to jasonsargo's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Kohlrausch and I live in Germany and we have a A LOT OF sewing machines around here. Often enough within a driving range of just a few hours and hell you can make great deals from time to time when you watch the market frequently and act fast when a good deal pops up. But thats not the case in all parts oft the world. Prices for these machines depend on your local market. Singer SV machines are often just standard machines (as it seems) with different accessories for certain sewing operations or certain customer needs and so forth compared with the "off the shelf" machines or are predecessors / low volume "prototypes" of future standard machines (no proof for that - it´s just what I have learned from comparing machines and parts lists). I´m sure you won´t have problems finding parts. Singer 111 are workhorses for several decades already and the big big big advantage of the 111 type machines is that you most likely still can find all wear parts for them in 50 years from now. Most aftermarket parts are of good quality (but there are always exceptions). If you buy it check the condition of the timing belt and most important - TEST SEW IT. Keep in mind this 111 has no reverse! Due to the condition I´d pay 150 - 250 if it is NOT sewing and maybe 100 more when it is sewing and timing belt is in good condition. Just my 2 cents BTW - for sewing heavy canvas Army tents like GP Small or bigger you may want a more powerfully / heavier machine and or / or a machine with longer arm but depends on where the tents needs a repair. You most likely have to extent the table as well. For lighter canvas M-1950 arctic tents and the like this machine will work fine I think. -
depends on your skills. This is how they should look when functional (though mine is missing the spool pin)

looks like someone modified a #6HM winder for what ever machine - seems to be welded it in some spots...

Trox, the POW´s in the GDR must have been South Vietnamese. The GDR and Russia supported North Vietnam during the Vietnam War. But lots of people from Vietnam worked in the GDR regularly since they were "socialist brothers". I also have been in in the former GDR in 1994 for a few month when they build up the new German Army on the former GDR territory or as it was called at that time "the 5 new federal states" or "5 re-established states". I was around Delitzsch - Halle - Leipzig - Bitterfeld and that really really sucked - all gray, ugly, stinky, lots of rotten infrastructure.... And guess what - just recently I again drove through that era while picking up something (first time since 1994). Really a lot has changed (!!!) but you still can see the "old charm" in some areas. In some spots they really still have a lot of work to do - if you know what I mean. And back then when I was picking up the skiver (more down to the south east) we talk about here I have been in an old factory (out of business but buildings are still there) and that looked like the times have not changed since then... and the weather that day really matched the impression... let me see if I can find the pictures.... But yes, they build excellent machines, motors and stuff. I even sometime look for old GDR tools on Ebay. EDIT: Looks like North Korea nowadays

you have to run the thread between the discs not on top of them.... That may help a bit already...
