I don´t have one but afaik the Singer 144w is pretty much the same machine too so maybe you can find something for this model
-
Brian, thanks for your feedback. They are indeed very easy to use and very space saving. Only thing you have to "learn" is the position of the handle for threading and lifting the "mouth" and so on but that's nothing big. Regarding parts I would contact Ottobock / JosAmerica since they are the current manufacturer of these machines: https://www.ottobock-josamerica.com/en/service/service-request.html Just go a request for shipping to the US so I will post the shipping cost incl. building a shipping crate later. Just for the case some one from over the pond will be interested.

Singer 211G256 age and other questions
Constabulary replied to JimTimber's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
reg. age - The late 1950´s models with this "colorful" Singer tag had a black flat bed. I´d say yours is early 1960´s onward. But not sure when exactly the switched from 2 tone to 1 tone machines Maybe the attached manual will help you a bit. Service Manual Singer 221G155_211G156.pdf -
I have fully functional Frobana Outsole Stitcher for sale. http://www.ebay.com/itm/FROBANA-Doppelmaschine-Durchnahmaschine-Schuster-Sattler-Nahmaschine-/201814164585 Very easy to use machine. Prefer EU shipping by freight forwarder on a pallet but can ship to US and elsewhere on request but have to check shipping costs in advance and most likely have to build a shipping crate but it´s not impossible. These Frobana stitchers are still manufactured but not under the Frobana brand, they are sold by Ottobock / JOS America as Outsole stitcher F42. https://www.ottobock-josamerica.com/de/produkten/75-20-2910-0.html?Itemid=266 I have seen them as AFL 85 outsole stitchers as well. So parts wont be a problem I´d say (if ever needed). Needle system is 761 PG and they are available w/o bigger problems at least in Germany but most likely available from machine dealers as well. http://www.rimgm.de/shop/NADELN/Nadel-761-PG-5-Schmetz-10-Stueck.html?listtype=search&searchparam=761 http://www.wdn.de/artinfo.php?artnr=A 33505

Eric, I however cannot afford a new one but you never know what you come across . I narrowed down to Brother BAS 311 but, well, that was just an idea... I of course have my eyes open but you never know what you will find... So you would generally say do not buy a used programmable tacker? I really would love to have a Singer 68/69 but on my side of the pond I most likely will not find the cam discs need. And switching them is probably a too big challenge for me so thats why I had the idea with a programmable x Box tacker... Maybe not the best idea....

Show & Tell: Putting a table on wheels
Constabulary replied to Uwe's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Once again well done Clever idea! Next thing I want to see from you is a hoover board for sewing machines tables. I mean Nike now has the self tying shoes so.... -
Eric or Gregg do guys you have experience with programmable bar tack machines? I often sew different sizes of box stacks from 1/2" up to 2" most of the time with 138 thread. I still can do it with the 111 but its a quite annoying job.

I acquired a bunch of NOS 6021 Needles + 8036 Awls for Sutton Rapid E, Pedersen, Rafflenbeul Sole Stitcher. I have no use for them. 5x Pack of 10 6021 Needles #41 5x Pack of 10 6021 Needles #39 5x Pack of 10 8036 #39 Awls $40 per pack of 10 needles or awls. Shoe Plus ask $70 for 10 6021 needles and $90 for 8036 10 awls so I think the price is quite fair. 5% off when buying 2 packs. 10% off when buying at least 4 packs. Paypal accepted. Worldwide registered Airmail is $7.50 for 1 pack of 10 (trackable through USPS website if sent to the US). Please send PM if interested or need more information.

How to attach a binder to a Singer 111W155?
Constabulary replied to Willie0's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
drill new holes and cut new threads . Thats the cheapest way. I think I also have seen complete binding sets with dedicated feet, feed dog, needle plate and right side slide plate for the 111 type machines EDIT: like this: http://www.ebay.com/sch/Crafts/14339/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=singer+111+binding or modify a "beefed up" right side slide plate - see description: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SLIDE-COVER-ATTACHMENT-PLATE-RIGHT-INSIDE-240003SP-SINGER-111W-CONSEW-225-226-/122269724581?hash=item1c77d7efa5:m:mStaA8tlTrxIPshRdNQUnrQ -
sewing machine worth saving and rebuilt ?
Constabulary replied to patria's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
ha ha - Old cast iron... a barn full of it.... Seems I have to book a trip to Indonesia I basically have restored / overhauled ALL my machinesby my self - some needed more TLC and some less. So my answer is: I would at least try it. And if you can´t restore all machines then maybe they are worth selling some of their spare parts to gain $$ for restoring other machines. Well, since you have a lot of different types and brands of machines you should do it one by one... generally you will not have many problems finding parts for Singer clones, Seiko, Juki and Mitsubishi machines I think. For the other brands you have to find out if they are probably clones of other brands meaning if other brands had the same machine but with a different name - or the like. If I had the machines I would start with Seiko followed by Juki / Mitsubishi and then maybe Pfaff since Pfaff parts are often quite expensive. Later on I´d focus on the other brands. -
Cast Iron Again - Pearson & Bennion / BUSMC A1
Constabulary replied to Constabulary's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Hey Henry, would be nice to see another A1 "alive". But the parts are totally different, maybe one or the other smaller screw from the #6 may fit but everything else is quite different. The #6 shuttle is WAY larger than the A1 shuttle. -

Parts Compatibility Between 29K Variants
Constabulary replied to amuckart's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
You can use the 29K72 manual + parts list for this machine. Both are large bobbin machines. But K60 and K72 have just some minor differences like different thread take up lever regulator, K72 has thumb nut + stud for thread regulator spring and has set screw on the needle plate hinge pin and if I remember correctly a slightly different foot lift adjuster (29K60 is pinned the 29K72 is not). Otherwise the same machine. -
What I like on the machines from Leather Machine Co is that most of them (as it seems) come in a quite distinguishing / typical brown color. So even w/o stickers and badges everyone could tell that these are Cobra machines from Leather Machine Co. All other China machines nowadays are just white and A copied from B and B from A and when you remove the stickers and badges they look all the same. I know back then the machines were all black but you are at least able to tell them by their casting (with some exceptions) or some technical details.

.... another brain fart.... Leather bags line called "Kait-Bag" and "Jay-Bag" reg. name - simple: Hoffman´s Leather Goods and in the Logo somewhere in the background a big J&K or so Like this - maybe Hoffmans Leather Goods a bit curverd.... or so... dunu...
-
a few "brain farts" - J&K Hoffman Leather - - J&K Hoffman Custom Leather - - JayKait Leather - - JayKait Hoffman Leather - - JayKait Custom Leather - maybe a hissing California Spangled (cat breed) as logo (combines California an Kaitlyn ... kind of... ) - male leather line called "JAY" - female leather line called "KAIT" - unisex leather line JayKait For me crooked sounds like something unfinished, irregular or cheating or cheapish - personally I do not like it but thats just me.

So YOUR total would be at max 13 ounces? I´m sure a Class 18 can do that! I think up to 20 ounces are possible with the Class 18 so you have not reached its limit with 13 ounces. The Class 3 is probably "the cooler" machine for a guy but I would say the Class 18 is sufficient. But if I were you I´d check with Leather Machine Co since they are quite close to you and I´m sure Steve or one of his employees will help you to find a proper machine. http://www.leathermachineco.com/

You don´t want to "force" me to sell it, right? No, you don´t - or do you? -
BTW - I don´t see it well enough but are you using the standard needle plate? There is one for binders too which is a bit raised. https://www.college-sewing.co.uk/store/240144B-BINDER-PLATE-SINGER-111W-STW8B-B837-LU563-USE-WITH-FEEDER-240112HB Maybe this will work better. You also need a raised feed dog https://www.college-sewing.co.uk/store/240112HB-BINDER-FEED-SINGER-111W-STW8B-B837-LU563-USE-WITH-NEEDLE-PLATE-240144B

I just recently have setup my Pfaff 345 with a binder bracket and I´m using a modified binder attachment - actually the cheapest I have found and it works excellent. Left over from the idea mounting a synchronized binder on my 111 - never finished this project since the 345 popped up. I really bought the cheapest I found as it was meant just for testing but I´m very pleased with it and I see no need for buying other binders atm. I´m using a 3/4 binder but have 2 more sizes which I yet have not tested. But will test them maybe this weekend and let you know. These are raw edge binder and fold the tape just 1x I do not recall where I bought them (I think from Sharp Sewing) but this is the style I bought - you see not dedicated to my machine but with a light modification yet the 3/4" works excellent. http://www.ebay.com/itm/SINGLE-FOLD-RAW-EDGE-PLAIN-RIGHT-ANGLE-BINDER-SET-S64-/302166356162?var=&hash=item465a84b0c2:m:m5b_hmfELS9Ia7QquLH9plw Some pictures
