  1. Awsome Jimi - these are really great information. I have added your PDF to the above PDF file "Singer 45K Descriptions of Subclasses" so everything is one file now.
  2. I also run 138 tread in my 29K71 - always! The needle plates are often marked with 23 for coarse needles. So 138 is no big deal and 207 thread seems to be possible but I never tried it. Due to the tiny bobbing you will not get much of the ticker thread on it but when you use the machine for repair work it should work. I always use some sort of Nitro solution for cleaning the old gunk but you have to be careful on the outside. But usually the old paints are very tough and withstand a short contact with Nitro solution w/o problem.
  3. BTW - I guess you know how to adjust the stitch length at your machine, right? You should have it set at to the max. stitch length of 5 SPI (Stitches per Inch) then measure again. The manual I have linked will give you good instructions.
  4. 3mm is not very much!!!! Id´first clean it thoroughly and then test again but don´t expect too much progression from just cleaning it but you should do it anyway. I just have posted a download link for a service manual + parts list of the 29K71 in this thread: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=57862&p=398341 It will be very helpful for you I think! I recently have restored an older model of the 29K (much much older than yours) and I got longer stitches by replacing this part: https://www.college-sewing.co.uk/82167-FEED-MOTION-BELL-CRANK-LEVER-SINGER-29K I would assume that when you replace the above part and this part here: https://www.college-sewing.co.uk/82053-FEED-MOTION-RING-SLIDE-BAR-SINGER-29K you get a much better result. But I can´t tell you how much longer the stitches will be. But these two parts are responsible for the stitch length. Considering the "relatively low price" you have paid (in Australia people have to pay approx. 3 times the price you paid if I´m right) I think it is worth the investment. This is at least what I would do. Maybe someone else has an additional tip for you. The 29K´s are very simple machines, there is not much that can go wrong.
  5. You can find out out the date of your machine by searching the serial number here: http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_machine_company/serial-numbers/singer-sewing-machine-serial-number-database.html
  6. You can download a parts list here - these are sometimes very helful: http://www.hendersonsewing.com/manual.asp?page=70 And check out this list for what your machine was used for http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_machine_company/singer-sewing-machines-for-manufacturing-purposes.html (for searching the list: Press F3 on yor keyboard then enter 43-4 then press enter - just for the case you dunu )
  7. I would first clean it, then make a test to see how it is performaing. So you may need some more parts when the stitches are very short!!!! When these machiens are new they produce about 5mm long stitches but when some of the parst are worn then you probably have just 4mm stitches (thats not too bad) or just 3.5mm or even less and then you should probably repace some more parts.
  8. I have another nice one for the later type 29K series. Very useful information, nice & clear instructions and a great parts list. Direct download link: Service Manual and Parts List for Singer 29K71, 29K72 and 29K73 But I think it is helpful for other 29K subclasses as well. The parts list is very helpful for disassembling and reassembling!!!
  9. Thats why I asked - yes, College Sewing hast the parts. The thumb screw is par # SS469W and th threadingw ire part # 8590.
  10. So far I only see that the thumb screw for the bobbin winder is missing. On picture 4 are some useful spare parts like needle plate + shuttle carrier (both on the far left side) and two extra shuttles (n the lower right corner=. Everything else seems not to belong to this machine. Anyway - when the spare parts are good and the machine produces stitches longer that 4mm I think it was a good deal for 200€. Seems you also have a flat bed attachment for it. So I´d say its a good deal but the machine needs a good cleaning as it seems. But what you probably need is the threading wire: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Threading-Wire-For-SINGER-29-4-29K-29U-Class-Sewing-Machines-8590-2-Pack-/161577390252?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item259ec350ac Where are you from? Since you wrote the price in € I guess you are from continental Europe, right?
  11. At least the thumbscrew of the bobbin winder are missing. Some larger and more detailed picture would help. A while ago I have restored the same machine so you can get and idea here: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=56079&hl=29k71
  12. ALL THREAD STANDS ARE SOLD NOW!
  13. WOW - thats the first complete Singer 45K instructions manual I have ever seen!!! Great find Jimi I have downloaded the pictures reworked them a little bit and turned them into a PDF files. Hope you like it: Direct Download link: Singer 45K User Guide / Instructions Manual Direct Download link: Singer 45K Descriptions of Subclasses
  14. I have a Singer 133K3 (cylinder bed version of your Seiko SK-6) from 1932 (I restored it) and I have not replaced a single part except the thread regulating spring + the foot lifter (was still good but the spare one I had was better). These are really tough built machines and are long lasting as it seems. Mine runs very nice smooth. Maybe you are interested: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=56667 Your Seiko SK-6 is a clone of the Singer 132K and not the 45K. I think feed dog, feed dog screws, smaller screws and springs are good to have parts. If you cant find parts in the US check out College Sewing in the UK but look for 132K parts. https://www.college-sewing.co.uk/catalog/search.aspx?keywords=132K
  15. okay - sorry - don´t wanted to push you - I just wondered what it is... Looking forward to some pictures
  16. Last one that is available it the heavy PFAAF stand for 3 large spools (far left in the picture) - all other stands are gone!
  17. but thats not the "Patcher on Steroids" or is it? Maybe I got something wrong...
  18. You should probably update your profile and show people where you come from. That sometimes helps to point you to things close to you and not to things on the other side of the big pond - if you know what I mean. Most members are form the US so the 1st assumption is that a member is form the US when he is asking questions. 28€ is not a killer price for a sewing machine part and I would not damage original parts when I can buy original parts at this comparatively low price. 28€ is a lot for a simple thumb screw but not a too bad price for a sewing machine part. So when you can find the part for 28€ (maybe + shipping) I would buy it!!! And be careful with tapping new threads, sewing machine parts are often hardened and can kill your tap!!! So it could probably cause some more damage and then it will become really expensive.
  19. would like to see the machine it self....
  20. Found a WETTINA cobbler machine on Ebay Germany - never heard of it before. Another COLIBRI type as it seems. http://www.ebay.de/itm/schoene-antike-Schuhmachernaehmaschine-Wettina-Schuhmacher-Naehmaschine-Schuster-/111592111508?ssPageName=ADME:SS:SS:DE:3160 @shoepatcher what is this "Shoepatcher on Steroids" - can you post some pictures?
  21. My words! I absolutely don´t see why I should do it. I somehow have a "Sales Show" feeleing here. We have a saying here: "Wes Brot ich ess, des Lied ich sing" or freely translated: "Whose bread I eat his song I sing" Some interesting aspects here (I don´t eat their bread but worth reading it) http://www.tradingacademy.com/resources/financial-education-center/financial-professionals-share-their-opinions-on-bitcoin.aspx Good luck with this stuff - I´m out.
  22. You forgot to send me a ticket... To bad I can´t be there...
  23. Again - none of the CO´s Im buying from is accepting bitcoin - no one ever asked me to do so and why the hell is it me who has to tranfer a virtual currency to a CO that iturns it in to real money? Why don´t bitcoin users turn their moeny into hard currency and then pay me? Don´t know what this FIAT is - do they tun bitcoins into real moneny for free? We have SEPA payments in Europe and that is for free I still see no purpose for virtual money. have to run ... later
  24. Singer 29D, 29D51, 29D56, 29D62, 29DSV205, 29K51 Source: http://home.arcor.de/veritasklub/naehmaschinenwerk_produktionsprofil/seite01_singer.htm
  25. Yet I have not seen a single online shop or other business who is accepting Bitcoin as payment. At least all the shops I buy from regularly, occasionally or randomly do not take bitcoins in the checkout - so why the hell should I accept it? I cannot buy nails, screw, wood, leather, sewing machines, hardware, thread, needles, spare parts or pay my gas or power bills, buy a new car or food...My bank does not take them, I cannot pay Ebay fees... Maybe I´m buying at the wrong paces - really - do I? I have to spent my bitcoins somewhere / somewhen, right? Otherwise it makes no sense for me. So where should I spend them? Yeeehaaaa - I´m a bitcoin millionaire but I cannot spent my money... doesn´t matter I´m a millionaire - yeeehaaaa This might be a funny thing for the electronicfancyfacebookIphonehankypankywhatsapptwittersmartphone2ndlife based world but not for the world I live in!!! (carp now the world know that I´m from the 70´s) Just my 2 cents.
