E.c. Stearns & Co. Harness Rivet Press Question
Itch replied to cgleathercraft's topic in Leather Tools
Looking at the anvil in the second photo.. We use a different setter but with the same anvil. The rivet that we use looks like a tubular rivet but is solid halfway up from the head and a flat washer is also used..Hope this helps you out..- 6 replies

Anyone Know Who Made This Machine? I'm Stumped!
Itch replied to Woodentop's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
If you contact Weaver ask for Jackie in the fab shop.. Very knowledgeable we have a few presses around here and the anvils will all pretty much fit the other machines.. Good Luck....... -

In our shop everything get.s wiped down with Aussie or Skidmores.. Personally I think Aussie may have a little more wax in it than Skidmores.. -

Just got back from the Auction and had a wonderful time.Met some great folks and visited with some old friends. This year their was a lot of brown upholstery leather and natural leather. The tool and equipment auction always is pretty impressive with a range of stuff that is next to new as well as 75 years old..Sewing machines, rivet press, clickers, and of course always something that you are just not sure of.We did come home with some nice black and brown bridle leather for belts and then swung by Louisville and picked up a bunch of Latigo..See ya there next year..

I would put a piece of soft leather or suede on the face of the snap..and you are probably looking at line 24 snaps with an embossed top piece.

We may need a little more info to make a decision...

Stiffening Leather
Itch replied to Red Cent's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I use a liquid leather stiffiner and set the product out in the Sun.. Once it dries it is almost as hard as Kydex..
