Nothing new really... did not have me thinking cap on when i asked them. OF COURSE.. one is for the 34 mm feed wheel and the other for the 50 mm feed wheel
-
Well it would be a lot easier to work a new one up, that´s for sure. i do not think it makes a lot of difference on the stone really as it scrapes very lightly and like you said there are no traces of metal on the stone. I have just emailed Fortuna to see if i can get some info from them, as in their parts manual they have 2 types of springs, 2 types of holders and 2 types of blades, so i will see what they have to say. Yes it is a Fortuna Brian, ...but it didn´t cost a Fortuna gladly..Lol..

Oh no problem, sorry i could not get them up earlier. Yes it is metal Brian, and very worn down. It does touch the wheel, it scrapes the surface and the spring is just lightly pushing. I do not know what the original is like as it was missing but it is loose enough to move it out a little to the centre no problems if it is off. the holder is aluminium but the blade steel. I will have to get the grinder out and look for another piece of steel as this one has worn down that much that the holder is almost touching the wheel where the bottom of the curve is. Also i have noticed that if a small piece of split manages to pass the scraper depending on the thickness it can get stuck as the holder is so near the wheel. No adjuster screws on this Brian, i would imagine if you wanted more pressure just give the spring another wind?? Yes the Campbell Randall blade looks like it can be adjusted outwards with the slits?? I did notice those little kinks before

Here is a link from another topic that has a Campbell Randall manual, i think there is another topic which has a FAV one also, and i have one in PDF which i can send by email. I have managed to take some pictures for reference if this might help. The metal guide on your machine is not present on mine so the only thing i can say about that is to bring it all the way back until your ejector in the knife is set then re set it. Personally it looks like it is just looking for something to get stuck on it?? If anyone is wondering, the spring on the scraper of the wheel feed is homemade and not original. It came with another homemade one but botched with less spring so i made one according to the parts sheet. (a slightly better botch)

Thanks for taking the time to share Brian...Very informative.

Hi Yintx, wow that is a lot of scrap in there!! do you have a scrap ejector on the inside of the bell knife?? it should be normally 15 mm from the edge of the knife. Looking at the pictures the settings all look ok to me ( but i am no expert) I usually finish grinding the knife with the emery feed wheel on the inside with just a slight touch. have you checked the spring pressure on the feed wheel? for level cuts or splitting the spring that tilts the roller (the one in your first picture)should be stronger than the spring that dips the whole roller ( the spring at the back with the plate with notches) and vice versa for bevel cuts.

Sorry to hear that vanessa, if it is any help, on the older 335´s they have pfaff and the p/n stamped on the feet, needle plate, feed dog and some other parts. With your machine being the newer type i would think they would not have changed these parts for wear. -
I think LW member UWe has a video showing how this is installed. It is not very difficult, just drill and tap 2 holes at the back, make sure you do not obstruct the foot lifter at the back before drilling the holes.

well if that´s stuck forever then not much to do? Sometimes they do slacken off, If it has a pin through it then at least i will not fall off. You will have to tighten up the grub screws the best you can. Have a look to see if your large flywheel is not loose also. This could pull on your cam if loose.

Could you send a picture or two?

Hi There, Good to hear you got the machine going a bit better, the treadle pullys are Aprox. 250 like you said and 210 the smaller one. I found a few parts for the 29k and have them on sale here, you might be able to use one of the pinions for your 15 if you need new ones. they are listed in services at the bottom of the page. Jimi.

Well done Stormcrow, very neat stitching. If you did not have your location on there i would have thought it was made in America, they like that type of wallet. (thick leather and buffed edges) Keep up the good work. -
Lol... Here in the north (Galicia) it is slowly turning into the south mike, This morning very light rain, then sunshine, it is hot here also. it has not rained here for a while, that is unusual for Galicia!! we do not get to the 40s yet.... they get that in Orense further to the south near Portugal. Haha i know how it is with little space, i thought you were describing my leather room? I just hope i do not drop in on the neighbour below through his roof with 8 or 9 machines.... I would not worry about the parts disappearing so quick, seems like nobody needs them??? strange..... the last time i was able to buy a new pinion for my old 29k1/12 was about 26yrs ago!!! a small rack was like....!!! Hens teeth!!. Anyway thanks again mike.

Looking for info on machine I recently purchased?
jimi replied to Rpatterson86's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Here is a link with various machines similar to yours. They were copies from the Singer 45b class machine. http://www.industrialsewmachine.com/webdoc1/singer/45b.htm By the looks of the 2 holes where the badge went it could be a Consew 751?? -
