  1. I have the moon water but need the dust If you varnish the half round that you routed it would look 100% real deal and bought from the shop
  2. Looks great Folker, you could sell them on ebay?? Ejem...ejem.. the bobbins for my 335 are all aluminium.
  3. No Problem Tibee, the tension on the bobbin when i loosened it 1/2 turn was as if there was no tension at all, i mean really almost 0 resistance. Anyway i think you are at that limbo where the machine is at its limit. 6mm thick is very thick for that machine, i do wallets and stuff on the 335 and belts etc on the Singer 45k which can handle thick leather but not too thin a thread, the only problem is that it leaves teeth marks on the bottom side, that`s why for belts etc it is a good option.
  4. Oh! so is that you hot rodding my machine Yeah your probably right Folker but i don´t usually have that 20´s thread in there.
  5. here is the thread pathdifferent bobbin, this is not a H3 or G model. I think with a larger needle it would look a little better on the bottom maybe but i do not have any bigger. So with size 20/138 it is possible in this 335 so i think yours would handle this thread also. I would change everything one by one starting with the shuttle if you have one or take it apart and inspect it?? Hope this helps tibee.
  6. 5.5mm 2 turns top tension top sidetop and bottom side4 layers 1.4mm oiled tan aprox3 turns total on top tension
  7. Hi Tibee, here is what i have found just now. I had some 20´s thread so i have tried this in the 335 with a 130 needle ( i have not got any bigger for this machine). i have changed the thread and left all tension settings the same as was for the 40 thread i had in it. first try 3mm thick, then 2 layers 6mm thick both without touching the tension.then 1/2 turn to loosen the bobbin thread. next piece of leather approx 5.5mm thick 2 turns to tighten top thread, final 3 turns on top thread tension and 4 layers of 1.4mm oiled tan. 3mm and no tension changed6mm and no tension changedbobbin 1/2 turn loose
  8. Maybe like Rocky said, your thread could be too thick for your type of machine?? and what Constabulary also said, I use a feed dog with a wider hole for the size 40 thread i use in the machine. I also have one with a smaller hole for thinner thread, it is the same part number but the previous owner opened the hole?? If i have some thicker thread around i could try and see if it sews or not?
  9. It´s the one in your last picture above the bobbin, where those two little screws are, but it looks like it is fixed and non adjustable? You could check to see if that has any kind of burr on it also?
  10. Hi There, Have you got in touch with Techsew?? Here is a link that sells rollers for the top and bottom feed machines. http://www.fratellialberti.com/lang2/spare-parts-for-skiving-machines.html
  11. Hi Tibee, could be the little finger not letting the thread pass easy?? the one on the end of the arm??but looks like your bottom thread is catching now and again somewhere??

  13. Hi Twotrees, No i have not used one personally but made a similar one a while back a little smaller and used it for thinning lace down. Depending on how you pull it through then that will govern more or less your success. Looking forward to hearing your views on it when it comes, all the best.
  14. I would personally look for a Bell skiver, you might get a good second hand one if you look around a bit. When it is up and running you will not regret it. a scharfix costs about 200 euros, i found a bell skiver for 400 and only needed a few worn parts changed which i was able to do myself.
  15. Found this, it is a older model but not much is different, at least your foot bar and so on will be the same.
  16. Hello Gymnast, Here is a link for a Singer industrial machine that was i think the last of the industrial type leather machines Singer made. It is a modern version of the Singer 45k class machines and has a list of all the similar types of machine in its class. The Adler 4 and 5, 104, 105, 205 were also similar to the 45k, the later being the transition between the 45k and 45b. Seiko and a few others from japan also made similar machines but i cannot remember their names http://www.industrialsewmachine.com/webdoc1/singer/45b.htm The tensioner in the picture is normally referred to as the lower tension assembly, in the parts book it just says "tension" complete and the parts numbers it consists of. If this is any help to you, you go around this wheel 1 1/2 times. you can get a lot of info here on these machines, here is the manual if you need to look at it.
  17. Here is a link that you might find interesting Prw.( there are loads of topics on the 29k by the way)
  18. Without knowing the thickness you want to skive?? guessing you mean bridle leather 3-5 mm thick?? If you mean the ones with the lever that mount on the edge of the bench then they are for thick belt type leather (splitting). the old cobblers type skiver in your photo would be for doing welts etc... if you want the edge skived then you need a very sharp skiving/paring knife,a steady hand and a lot of patience or better still a bell skiver.
  19. Thanks for the info william, jimi.
  20. Hi, What machines are you sewing the ritza thread on?? 0.4 Braided??
  21. Hi, I must be missing something with this machine?? is it not possible to adjust the needle bar??
  22. I think the 45k66 was fitted with a hot wax heater for sewing heavy boots etc.. also i think it came with a three speed balance wheel??. looks like they have taken a few bits away over the years.you can find the parts book here.. http://dixiesewingmachine.tzo.com/MANUALS/SINGERPARTS2/45K66,K67,K70.pdf
  23. Ok, maybe thats a cable for a light?? nothing to do with cording Lol, looks interesting, that needle plate puck parts looks to be held still while rotated hence the thick arm which would have a few pinions along the way i suppose?? Did you see the link above Brian?? nice big pictures to get measurements from and it is used on the Adler 205 so almost the same as the one you have?? http://sew24.blogspot.com/2012/09/sew-luxury-leather-bag-handles-with.html?m=1 Yeah..comon Folker...go for it
