  1. I'm not sure where they hide theirs..I've found its always good to keep it handy..you never know when you may need it.. Sounds like you're at a fiddly stage with your sewing.! That's dedication for ya when you're down to the nail..! Oh and the strap is looking good now, by the way..the tractor is standing out well against the backgroung colour too.. You mean, you actually aim for your hind end with your happy dance kick?!? Hehe.. I think mine has more arm movements than legs.. I shall try to put more effort into the leg swings.. Now THAT'S scary!! lol Regards Phil
  2. Okay, we'll maybe leave the coffee holder, down to safety reasons..lol Perhaps you could have a pin insert thru the triangulation ply, in order to lock the pedal for time away at the kettle? Just a little pressure would be adequate.. I can see your point about moving the work along with both hands free to do so..something which hadn't crossed my mind, but worth noting..lol Its all good stuff this.. Ha! Ooo.. I see Tom's just been in.. Nice idea that one Tom.! Coming in at a different angle there.. That'd work too..I like it.. I hope Mike is reading this before he starts on his next pony.. Regards Phil
  3. That leaves you with a dilemma tho, St8.. If she's smiling, is it.. A: Cos she likes the happy dance? B: The fact that you're nekkid except for a belt...or, is it.. C: The quality and workmanship of the aforementioned belt that is cheering her up?? Best bet is do the happy dance, then hand her a questionnaire form.. Regards Phil
  4. Woohoo!! The happy dance is always good.. I'm afraid of people who don't do the happy dance.. lol
  5. Hi St8.. I know what you mean about being able to move a piece along quickly..I'm sure some of the bolt clamp type will require a spanner or rachet and that's the bug bear bit for those I guess..which is why I thought about using the quick release clamp when I get to making one.. If yours keeps enough pressure on, to hold the pieces whilst you're off, tending to nature's needs (coffee) then all good and well mate..lol Keep posting piccies for when you add your drawer, shelf and leather trim (perhaps a cup holder on there somewhere??) because I've never seen a mule being born.. Regards Phil
  6. Well..great work for only your second go at tooling.. I know what you mean about the help and advice on here..it's astounding how friendly folk are, how they are pleased when you succeed and lets face it, so near to the end of the project, these few people know exactly what sweat and tears have gone into this.. As far as your friend goes, Im sure as you say, he'll be pleased to get hold of it finally.. After all, anyone would be proud to have a seat like that to look at, drool over and polish for a few months..lol Regards Phil
  7. Looking good, so far.. I'm a bit curious on your edge chamfering before you stitch.. I have it in my head that its something which most leave til after stitching.. Is the strap used to lift out the cards on this design, Hunio? Regards Phil Yeah, that's what I thought it looks like as well, Hellfire..
  8. Oversized is a good option, especially, as Tom pointed out, if you're stamping at all..sometimes the leather will distort and you may have to trim anyway.. You'll find what works for you, somewhere in the swarm of advice given.. Regards Phil
  9. Hi Johanna.. I'm glad its still on the cards..there are a few of us that like the feature.. Unfortunately, I don't think this world will ever be free of people like that, but its good to know that we won't be giving them any more exposure than this discussion. I'm sure someone with the technical know how can come up with some software that'll do the job, with all of the world's flags on it, not just countries that they like.. Regards Phil
  10. lol.. I think you mean..it's a learning experience.. Haha! When I get to making one, it'll be high enough to sit on my setee (sofa) have it around mid- chest height and stitch..
  11. Hi Milo.. I've just been reading through this whole thread, the pictures, links and the advice given as well.. It's been an inspiration to hear from the guys who are making seats, about their dyeing techniques and finishing advice too.. Chancey and Cyberthrasher..your advice has helped a lot of other folk out there too, I'm sure.. I know I have this thread saved as a watched one, so cheers.!! The seat has turned out fantastic.. I think the design is beautiful and the colours that you've gone with make it stand out, without shoving it in the viewer's face.. Subtle, is what I'm trying to say, I guess..lol Absolutely love it.. I hope your friend does too Regards Phil
  12. Hi St8.. Not too bad on the design of it..lools like it'll clamp the thinnest material with no bother.. I've seen the tread clamp design before and had one thought..the pressure needs to be held, in case of doorbell, toilet, telephone order of your clamp or belly rumblings type emergency..and once you remove the pressure of your foot, for whatever reason, the piece can drop or move.. Love the idea of the simple clamping it offers, but couldn't work with it.. Just my opinion though.. On your idea of adding a drawer and/or a shelf.. Fantastic idea, but perhaps be careful of adding something which can snag the user's thread as it hangs down.. Oh and add some leather over the vice jaws to help stop marks in the project.. Here's a link to a thread that Mike and I posted on..have a read, it may give you some pointers for your revisions http://leatherworker...topic=42815&hl= I'm sorry I've gone on..it looks like i'm ripping at your clamp, but honestly, I'm not.. Just feedback and food for your thoughts..but its looking a lot better than some of what I've seen out there.. Hope people tear them from your hands as they come off've the workbench.. Regards Phil Hi Mike..I know it's hard to scale things in a pic, but I thought yours was a floor mount one.. I shoulda looked more carefully..lol Take care guys.. Regards Phil
  13. Love it, Andy.. I agree about the stitching on the strap..the colour is great.. I really like the new logo too..really eycatching.. Not too shabby at all, from a few scraps.!! lol Regards Phil
  14. Arbalet, that's very nice work.. love the carving design Phil
  15. The knife looks like it's good quality Hunio and you've done some extremely tidy work on the cover..nice.. Regards Phil
  16. Although I can't say much about the design of the holster and how it'll work, Mike, I do like the fact that you designed and made it yourself. You know, now, to flip your pattern before cutting for a righty and also how much leather to allow for wrapping around a gun and still leaving room for belt slots.. (I'm assuming that was a concern..lol) Personally, I like the fact that it's hand stitched, but I can see why a machine would be handy, if volume was a big worry. I'm sure other people, more qualified in holsters will be able to give you hints and tips for the next one, but good work and a good learning process too.. Regards Phil
  17. Thanks. I'll have a look for that Dave, and I appreciate it.. When I finally get to the leather part of my bike seat. my intention is to lace it, so it's gotta be neat as I can make it.. Small steps..lol Still working on a metal base to cover my petrol tank, before I can get on with the seat base..those crafty designers at Suzuki have hidden it under me bum on that bike.!! Phil
  18. Got me intrigued now..lol I've gotta ask tho.. Err....lol..how does the sock treatment go, Chancey?? It gives a great effect.. Phil
  19. Hi Chancey.. Love the seat..its simple, clean and different..oh and I can't read the image name without putting on an Irish accent in me head..lol.. Foytin Oirish.. Love the bike too..it reminds me of something my mate Jon would build..he's very much into minimalist Brits and Harleys.. Regards Phil
  20. Hi Chancey..great work on the seat.!! I love the design.. Just wondering how you created the outline of the figure..did you use a resist or something? Regards Phil
  21. Looking good Jayjay.. You've been a busy bunny.!! The new pocket system looks like a winner doesn't it.!! Regards Phil
  22. Hi Crystal.. If the pictures don't do this justice, you'd be picking my jaw off've the ground if I saw them in real life.. The last bag you posted was a work of art and this is not an exception. The colours you've used, really make the carving stand out..are you still hand painting or did you find that airbrush for this one? Regards Phil
  23. Lovely work, Rawhide..love the stamping and the tooling you've done on it.. What lining does it have? Oh and you need to work on those edges... (joke.!!) Regards Phil
  24. Odin.. Outstanding work mate.. I remember being as impressed with your ManOWar jacket patch too.. Very crisp cuts and stamping..so eyecatching.. Is that acrylics you're using for the red colour? Regards Phil
  25. Bearman's cases are real pretty Kinda makes me wish I wore glasses..maybe in a few years..lol Phil
