  1. Hi cjdevito..whatever you do....don't look behind you.. BOOO.!!! lol.. And breathe..... Now go and drink some Earl Grey tea in a dark, quiet room.. (just don't stare at the shadows for too long..) Regards Phil
  2. Last time I looked for Halloween designs, I searched on good ol' Google, under the Images tab at the top.. That was for pumpkin designs, at the time tho.. Maybe try there whilst others chime in? Phil
  3. That could be a bit vague.. What are you after making, Curley? Do you have a type of item in mind, but just need designs for it? Regards Phil
  4. Hi Swiety and welcome.. The bag looks great.. I've just had a look at your blog too.. You do very nice work indeed.. Regards Phil
  5. Nice step by step with the photographs..I love that skull design too.. I reckon its turned out well, Mike.. Regards Phil
  6. Love the design and the colours on this book cover, Kate.. Do you colour with dyes or acrylics on your pieces? Regards Phil
  7. Hi Charlie..I agree it's a very informative site.. I used the first one a while ago, whilst trying to turn pictures into outlines, so I followed his page on using Inkscape, but I couldn't get the image to print out onto paper at the end of things for some reason..lol (ended up using a tip Sylvia had given in a post on patterns about turning the picture into a photocopy using software instead..) I also found the archived section a day or two ago, whilst searching for dyeing info..he has some good tips on there too.. Anyway, nice work for passing on the links..they're really helpful.. Regards Phil
  8. Beautiful seats there, Caroline, the braiding on the top one is really neat, but the 'Old Skool' one is the one that grabs me more.. As Bigfoot mentioned, the contrast of colours on it, is eyecatching and I love the tooling on it too.. Proper reminds me of old signs on shops and vans..a bit like the pinstripers are doing still, on the side of old heavy trucks.. I just love that stuff.. Regards Phil
  9. I think you've explained it better, Mike.. The difference isn't in depth of material, cos all that's happening is there's some material between glued edges. I can see your point about if a glued edge fails on a seperate pocket, it will only affect that singular pocket and not it's neighbour, but I also think, that perhaps if using the strip, gluing the extra cloth will allow more strength in those areas? lol Thanks for your input on this anyway..its certainly helped clear things.. Tommy..its all swings and roundabouts as far as preference, I'm sure and I certainly don't want to take anything away from the beautiful wallet that you've produced.. At the end of the day, it really is outstanding work.. Keep it up.. Regards Phil
  10. No, it makes it no thicker..just saves time cutting the rectangles, is all..
  11. Hi.. Not sure if you're aware, but when you're posting pics, you have to browse for each file, then click the 'Attach This File' button and then go across to the 'Add To Post' button..this inserts them in your text.. If you're already doing that, they should be coming up, so maybe there's something else wrong.. The following diagram shows all the buttons, but the 'Add To Post' button only comes up when you have a picture to add in the list.. Hope that helps.. Regards Phil
  12. Looks good cj.. I've not got the kit assembled to construct..I'm getting there slowly, but I'd like to be able to produce something similar myself when I do.. It's good to see that you've managed to pull something like this off and overcome your difficulties with your arm, where it could have been easy to just give up on leatherwork.. Nice one!! Cute dog by the way.. Keep up the good work!! Regards Phil
  13. Hi Jayjay.. Some nice tight braiding there.. Is that a basket weave stamp you've used.? Regards Phil
  14. That looks great.!! How on earth..I can't see the stitching..lol How is it all held Magnus? Can we have some pics of the insides, plus more details.. Thankyou and nice work. Regards Phil
  15. Hi Tommy.. Actually I think your drawing explains things very well.. Just a thought for yours or other folks possible use.. As an alternative to cutting the pockets into seperate pieces, you could make that set of pockets from one continuous strip. Just use the same principle as you have, but instead of where you glue at the top of each pocket slot and it ends, making it glue up to the bottom of the next pocket up..etc.. I've messed around with your drawing, I hope you don't mind and I hope it shows what I mean.. Of course, the pockets are closer together than in the picture, so there would be perhaps, a little more glue holding the material, but not much extra material to what you used anyway.. Regards Phil
  16. Actually..I'm with you on the midget ninjas and tofu, too..but I'll raise you, with celery!! Only made more terrifying, if it's wielded by a midget ninja.. Regards Phil lol @ Bob..
  17. So it's actually for leatherwork then, Hunio? Something I've not seen before.. You do a good job with it anyway.. That's exactly what they're for, scribing lines..usually in woodwork tho.. The picture is a bit posher than the one I've seen, but next time I'm in there, I think I'll purchase one..you never know..and the money does go to charity..lol Regards Phil
  18. Hi Chuck..yeah I have a list of things which I'm going to order from Le Prevo, as and when the pennies allow, including a pack of 25, size 1 saddlers needles, some 18/3 linen and a 2" awl, among other things.. I've done hours of surfing around and nine times out of ten, they come up the cheapest for a lot of things I need, toolwise anyway.. As far as Tandy goes..we don't have a UK one now, but one in Europe, I believe..and after reports on the quality of Tandy's products, I don't usually look at their site to see what they have to offer. Just found a guy on our UK eBay who sells Fiebring's Oil based dyes, but hasn't listed any yet..so he's on my 'to order from' list too..lol Sigh..the never ending list.. Thanks for the advice folks..I sincerely hope it's helped c2369zulu out with his dliemma, cos it's helped me along the way.. Regards Phil
  19. The learning from your mistakes tip, is the best thing to remember..but don't forget, Hotwing..if your sheath isn't something you can rework, the leather can still find good use for testing new stamps and different dyeing techniques too.. Regards Phil
  20. Hi Northmount..yeah it does look like a gouge.. There's probably quite a few woodworking tools which can cross over for use in leatherwork, with a bit of thought.. I looked at a marking gauge the other day in a charity shop and wondered whether it would do for edge marking and making the recess for a stitching line too..maybe if the point was made a bit more blunt.. The only problem I could see with this is when marking curves and corners, perhaps.. Regards Phil
  21. It sounds like you have an especially loving wife there Mike..dedicated enough to try and get a scent that you'd like her to wear..plus once she found out exactly what she'd been asking the staff for in the stores..she actually left you alive.!! Haha! She's a keeper!! lol Regards Phil
  22. Good point Aaron.. The effect will vary, down to the length or rather height of the jaws..if there's only an inch or so of jaw height, then it will be minimised too.. At least you learnt from the experience.. Regards Phil
  23. I've just been out for the afternoon with my good lady and I've come back, to see that Iwm803 has already posted pics of the type of quick release I mentioned earlier.. lol.. In fact he's posted it on this thread too.. It certainly has Ryan.. It's all good and I think it helps others along who suddenly realise that it's something they can do for themselves.... Welcome to the forum Iwm803..I see you're using a similar type of clamp on your pony, which I mentioned earlier in the thread.. You'll have to let us know how you find it, as far as ease of use and adjustability, etc.. Regards Phil
  24. Hi Mike..looks like it'll do the job, nicely.. Looking at your pics, made me wonder if one of those quick release spindle nuts from a pushbike (cycle) wouldn't do the job for locking the clamp together.. Spin it to tighten and then pull the lever over for final lockdown and vice versa to release the work.. Just food for thought.. Regards Phil
  25. Hi Dogface.. I think the problem is, that Tom wants the buckle for a watch strap, not for a belt.. The buckle you kindly found, would be a tad overkill, perhaps? Regards Phil
