Wow! That is impressive finishes. I like the Galaxy, Copper and Birch but the patterns on some of them are great. liked the pattern on the Autumn red midori. You make some really cool stuff. I think it would look great to do fractured white quartz with gold veins like the lost dutchman matchbox. hint hint

I will definitely post it up and you do the same! Ive studied alot on the construction of cue cases etc over the past year or so. Actually did the lid, straps, handles and pocket last year. but that is far as i have made it. Already know of few construction techniques i need to do that i didnt do on this one that i need to correct. The pocket was difficult. Still have to construct the body and bottom and calculate where everything is placed. Didnt know it would be this difficult lol.

Not sure if you are talking about the contrast between the two? What color thread looks good with color of leather or just colors of thread preferred. For me, It just depends on what im working on. On some things that are plain or say just basket weaved like black police style holsters i like white thread that pops. On something like western holsters where carving and stamping patterns on the leather i want that to stand out so i would use thread that is the color or close to the leather color so the carving and stamping stand out. If you are doing a project that you are using two different dyes or coloring a carving you just have to use judgement. Also, it depends if you are hand stitching how good you are at it if you want it to stand out. I use Maine thread and the colors i like are Lark, GoldenBrown, Bark Tan, Black and White. By the Way, the reason i got into leather work was because i wanted to eventually make cue cases. I have been doing it 3 years now and still havent attempted a case lol. Im going to attempt a small 1x2 probably this coming spring. That small 1x2 has probably cost me over 1000 dollars in last 3 years

Need help, probably someone that restores old saddles etc. would have some good info. I bought a pool table that had been stored in a warehouse for sometime. The leather pockets has such a strong pungent mildew scent it would be impossible to put it inside the house. I cleaned one of the pockets with saddle soap on wet cloth but it didnt help. There is no way i can get to all the areas with out dipping it in some sort of solution. I know 1-8 solution of clorox/water will kill mold and mildew but im sure it probably wont work on leather especially dyed. Just hate to get rid of them because its going to cost me $150.00 to replace. I could probably attempt to make a pocket but having to do 6 would prove difficult and time consuming.

First time doing a watch strap. Had a old Elgin watch with metal band that was messed up so figured i would attempt a heavy duty band and cuff. Antiqued brown cuff and band is just natural rubbed with neatsfoot and mink oil. Saddle stitched with .035 lark maine thread. I know if i do another i wont use 8-9 oz on the cuff hard to buckle at 5 mm thick with lining. The straps are good at about 3.5mm with lining. Critiques or suggestions welcomed.

Yeah, the cap side usually will produce a divet or raised slightly in center. That is why I always make sure i use the post on the side you would see most because it will mostly always be the cap that will show the defect the worse. The pics show what i use. I ordered these setters from ohio travel bag and they work well. One is the small cap tool and the other large cap tool. The anvil is just a little tandy anvil think i got with snaps.
