He's already rounded it down to £1200 over the phone and I haven't started yet. He wants to "upgrade me" to the latest model which has "direct drive with the motor inside the head which is a lot more money but he'll do it for the same price". I said thanks but no thanks but when I do visit he have one of each set up. I keep expecting someone to throw a "but" at me. The specs for this machine beat most of the others.

I'd like to meet the people who come up with these ideas. A working work of art.

OK guys. I think it has to be the Tysew 3600C-1 I've discounted the CB and the Techsew for price or availability in the UK. Spec wise the Tysew looks good in all departments. I'm waiting for a call back and they've asked me to bring samples so they must be confident and it's only the other side of London for me. I say "only" it's a murderous journey if you don't time it right and if all's well I can bring it home. They have a similar model that they call EDGE. It has an edge guide apparently. Don't know how it works but they want another £400 for it. https://www.tysew.co.uk/industrial-sewing-machines/cylinder-arm/tysew-ty-3600c-1-cylinder-arm-walking-foot-needle-feed?search=cylinder arm

Thanks Wiz. How would you know which machine uses which and in practical terms how much difference does it make? Is it simply a case of a machine that was built for binding and altered later in which case would the clue be in the model number? You know - and I'm looking at you Wiz for reasons obvious to most of us on here, It would be a fantastic resource to have a list of different name/same machines/clones along with a comparable spec list for each. Don't know how difficult that would be but I know there are people on here that already have most of these answers and it would be tremendously useful to those of us who don't.

My teeth problems come from the radio therapy after throat cancer back in 04 but what prompted this was the tiredness. I don't seem to have the "limit switches" that most people have. For example I never feel full and always clear the plate no matter how high you pile it. I never feel tired. I know I'm past my bedtime when my eyes start to hurt just like they have been for the last half hour. Night Night.

So I'm guessing the next step up would be The Tysew? Is it a better choice or not? We're talking another £300 ish but I'd like to find something where nobody is gonna pipe up with "Not a bad machine BUT)". I've an idea that it's out of my reach but I'd like to get as close to it as possible. https://www.tysew.co.uk/industrial-sewing-machines/cylinder-arm/tysew-ty-3600c-1-cylinder-arm-walking-foot-needle-feed?language=en&currency=GBP&gclid=CjwKCAiAzJLzBRAZEiwAmZb0at7aaJqWUU0x7xpZxcai98FS6p83HXmehj693DL_sjLfv3_jsN_FKhoC81cQAvD_BwE

Thought I'd cracked it. Bookmarked the page then turned off the wifi. turned it on again, fired up chrome and hit the bookmark. It came up until I clicked on any link and off it went.

Thanks Mike. I'll ask. Never tried an XXX site (well not in the club anyway)

It's madness. Just look at the cost in property. assets and lives lost. Cut a swathe between the forests and the residents and maintain it every year with a spray from an aircraft. I'm actually flabbergasted that it isn't mandatory.

When I'm in the club using their WIFI I can't connect to LW.net. When I switch off WIFI all is good??? Explanation someone???

When I read this I laughed like a whipped dog. Is there no end to my torment? So come on Matt - how do the two motions work and how much difference does it make? I hope you know that if I buy one of these I won't be able to love it properly because of it's inferiority complex!

A firebreak is supposed to stop a fire from spreading. 1.5mtrs is a joke. I'm not talking around individual houses, I'm talking around a complete town. How big does a break have to be before a flying ember in a wind goes out? How long is a piece of string right! But it sure ain't 1.5mtrs. It can cross a highway in a heartbeat. With this amount of financial loss it's crazy to not have decent firebreaks in areas where this is a common occurence. I'm guessing a lot of these "at risk" properties are uninsurable else the insurance companies would insist on it.

Fantastic job. I can't imagine how long that took to make. Truly a labour of love. And second place for your second attempt must've given you a tremendous sense of pride. (Provided of course there were more than two of you in the race and the regular judge wasn't tied up in the back of the van and your dad had to take over the judging. )
-
I didn't say it Brian but your point is taken.
-
It would seem they're identical machines. The manuals are identical for both. Both descriptions say large capacity hook. The 8mm capacity is for pu? What's pu? for bags and regular belts should that be a concern?
-
It was a passing thought. Typically a couple of 2-2.4mm.
-
Absolutely heartbreaking. For some the ultimate price is/was paid. I just don't get it. In a place where these things are a common occurence Surely it's time for mandatory half mile/mile/2 mile fire breaks around every residential area. I know there's been some political wrangling over firebreaks but come on.

On my old Durkopp I started off replacing the clutch motor pulley and extending the arm (cheapest way to go)but still was nowhere near what I needed to control the thing. Never used one before remember. Then I replaced the handwheel for a 170mm pulley which was much better (and easier to find whilst looking at the work) but still not slow enough so I installed the Jack servo you mentioned earlier and at last it was good for me speed wise but as slow as I tried to press that pedal it always came as a surprise when the damn thing started. I installed the ENP as an afterthought and it's given me more confidence knowing where that needle is. I'm sure I'll get better at it as time goes on. A bit like a golf swing I guess, you start off trying to concentrate on every aspect until it comes right and then you don't need to think about it at all. The foot lift is fairly limited on these machines. The Konsew specs say 8mm hand lift 13mm knee lift for the Global. The Global site says 6mm hand lift 13mm knee lift. I can't see that as a problem for me but out of curiosity, if sewing and it rides up on thicker than 13mm can the presser bar accomodate or will it jam?

Just spoke to Konsew. Price inc everything except EPS which will be £30. He's just offered the GLOBAL WF35 Cylinder Arm for the same price. He says it's better built than the Typical and made with better metal and it's not a clone unlike the Typical. What do you thnk guys? https://konsew.com/industrial-sewing-machine/global-wf35-cylinder-arm-walking-foot-needle-feed

Wow! Light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks guys. I was beginning to think I was looking for a unicorn for under £1000. Now I'm getting frightened. I might have to buy the thing before I'm ready for it.
-
What's wrong with this one guys? I wouldn't mind the drive to Ruislip for this one. https://konsew.com/industrial-sewing-machine/special-sewing-machine/typical-gc2603-cylinder-arm-walking-foot-needle-feed-sewing-machine Youtube vid here but I think the guy must be drunk because I can't understand a word he's saying.
-
I had a small shopitting company so travelling all over staying in lots of hotels. In the morning, still green gilled whilst the others enjoyed a much needed breakfast to do a hard days work. I would never have believed the change after I switched. Didn't get drunk and could eat like a horse in the morning. I still can hardly believe the difference.
-
Well don't look my way! I have to save my pennies for a sewing machine. And it's beginning to look like I'm gonna need a lot more of em than I first thought.

I spent a few of my formative years with my head in the toilet down to whisky before someone advised me to try the grape rather than the grain. Been on Brandy ever since. An absolute eye opener.

Ah! As in "paysties" rather than "Passties", The stick on thingies. :). Sorry Mike, my brain is stricyly linear. Absolutely pants at cryptic.
