Welcome to this most wonderful site. I love the colours, they are fantastic. -
It is hard to let go of things that contain such great art in them go. They have moved everywhere I have and probably will till the day I die.

Here are two pictures of the old "Leather Craftsman" magazine. These were the precursor to "The Leather Craftsman and Saddlers Journal" That are now out there. These are both Sept/Oct and Nov/Dec of 1965. I have had these since I was a little kid. I remember that you would get a years subscription if a kit was bought from Tandy. I still wish we had the prices today that was back then. In the back of one of the magazines it said "Prime #1 Heart-O-Hide." That was a from the butt end for $10.25 for the whole hide. Archery arm guard kit was $1.25 and a zippered gun caddy was $ 5.95 a kit. There was patterns and everything just like today. I thought everyone would enjoy seeing these covers. The reason the printing is backwards is because I took the picture with my computer. The one cover is "The flying Leather Shop" For some reason it has always amused me.

Distressed Biker Patch

OMG, he is awesome. Great work, David! -
I did, I now work for me. I don't get the great pay I used to, or be able to take all the marvelous trips. I am happier, now if I talk to whining customers they are mine. If they bitch about prices they can move on, I am not that desperate to disrespect my work or put up with their BS. I am sure Calgary is way more expensive than you remember it. I have been here for pretty well forever and if I get a chance to escape to a warmer climate or BC I am going..

Great hats,I hope to get a few of the top hats done in the future. Excellent job.

It looks like you have done a bang up job on everything. The boots are marvelous, for a first pair. Could I do that well, I doubt it. The bag looks good but it also looks heavy, The bike seat is very nice. You are well on the way for only been doing this for six months. It is tough being a creative person in a mundane and non stimulating job. I did those for many years. Keep on going.

Actually they have resurged with the steampunk movement. I personally love them and they are definitely more classy than leg warmers.

Very nice, excellent job!

Very nice and very efficient. -
First; with handmade versus machine done you can tell the difference because of the cuts. Now, that being said, are you nuts? That is simply beautiful, great job!

Brick And Mortar Store Start Up
leatherwytch replied to Cowboymade's topic in Marketing and Advertising
I ran a brick and mortar store for many years. I was lucky, I could live there too. Well now I am unlucky, as of last year I was forced to move. So to break it down most stores you can't live in, in this city. Rents are extreme so I had to find a place to rent to live in and that took ten hours a day 7 days a week and finally at the last minute found one at extreme rent. I have since the time I had to start looking until now lost a minimum of 10K in business. I now live in an apartment that costs me double to what I paid before, it is very small and I am having issues getting the work studio up. These are things you must consider. I have all my stock from the store, my leather, tools and everything else. I have no idea where anything will go and I also have show coming up. You need to make sure with any brick and mortar or even place you can live with your work that you don't get told you have to move by the end of the month. It is stress you will never forget. The only good part is no more extreme liability insurance and utilities that were out of this world, insanely priced business insurance and if you have to move and you set up again. Then you need building and fire inspectors out and they cost big time. There are pros and cons to everything and people will call you at midnight if you are a business. -
