  1. Although I am leery of this, it does require a bit more scrutiny on my behalf. If I find it is easy to switch the bit coins to my bank account then I would probably be on board with this. But I must take a deeper look into this.
  2. So far in Alberta and BC this is what I have found for businesses that accept Bitcoin. 1 Winery in Kelowna 2. sausage shop in Vancouver 3. Restaurant Vancouver 4.A store in Vancouver 5 A Restaurant in Edmonton This is not something that tells me I must throw my money away for bit coin use. It is probably a great idea but: Tim Horton's, Safeway, Coop, Gas Stations, Car Dealerships,Enmax, Telus, do not recognize this and Stephen Harper wants you to pay your taxes in money, they won't accept bit coin. I can't pay Comicon, Horror Con or any other show I do in bit coin. Right now it is not only not feasible but definitely not logical for me to accept what I can't use. Now if in the future more larger companies are on board with it then I will consider it but to buy one coin for $247. dollars is not beneficial to me. I am not a millionaire and I can't afford to have my money ties up in something I can not use.
  3. I realized while painting pictures that when you use acrylics and they dry on your palette. This is an plastic type of palette ,not wooden one you get a mix of all the colours and you can pull the skin off when it is dry. These are the skins and they are great inlays or even parts for leather or even clothing. They are actually quite strong. This last one is an Elk hide no, not made of paint skins.
  4. I hate to say this, it is all clear as mud to me. I am one of those hands on type of people. I need to personally see how it works. Just the thing right now is I can't go to coop and use it, I can't pay my rent, buy my leather or take the cats to the vet, or fill the car with gas with it so I need to know how it will benefit me. I have heard of bit coins and that they mainly started in Europe. I just can't get a handle on this without seeing it in action. I need to know what currency is it equal too. If I sell someone a belt for $225.USD would bit coin equal that or would it be $225. million. for bit coin or $2.25. I was involved with Calgary Dollars but the big issue is that most people selling things with that were just junk out of their houses. My stuff is new and most did not have the calgary dollars to match the price and would not pay 75% in cold hard cash. With Calgary Dollars I could not buy leather, use it for gas, shop at the stores, give it to the vet or pay my rent with it either.
  5. Quivers, awesome. I have four of those to make. Come into chat sometime and we will all yak it up as usual.
  6. Welcome to the best leather working site on the net. You are correct, leather work is an art, just like fine art painting, or sculptures. It is the act of creating and quite the addiction. I will look forward to seeing your work.
  7. Those are very nice, Thor. I love your saddle bags. Good job and been great speaking with you in chat.
  8. I loved the bag before it was finished but now I love the little fox even more. What an awesome job.
  9. The road to doom is paved with good intentions. I had planned to do it but I had to find all my tools etc after the move. I can at least now do Feb. I have found my tools.
  10. Love your purse, very exquisite. Love the bling. I am all about the bling.
  11. Welcome to the best site on the internet and back to leather. Unfortunately many of us that started as kids, when we became adults put it away because of jobs and families. We always come back to it though. In some countries artists are encouraged to make it their own viable business. However, in North America it is not considered viable. Now you have time and things to do when the big storms hit.
  12. Excellent work for being a freshie. Welcome to this wonderful site.
  13. Hi Nelz, Welcome to this great site. I hope you tell your brother that he better hope he needs a pair of shoes he doesn't come looking to you for a free pair. This is unless he offers up his feet without having to beg him.
  14. You have leathers I would love to have but you don't ship to Canada.
  15. Welcome Michelle, I am quite a ways from you in Calgary. I hope you enjoy this site it is full of great things and people. Stop by the chat room some time. There is usually a bunch in there.
  16. The point is I was sick and tired of driving to meet her, which was not a short distance it was out of town and wasting 4 hours each time. Picking this and that and changing her mind constantly. 33 e-mails and 18 phone calls and constant mind changing. Take into the account that I charge $30 an hour. Everyone thinks for all of the above things you donate your time. I knew this person would not be happy no matter what happened. I was done at that point. The hide I would have used was a three hundred dollar hide.
  17. This is correct. I had a customer want a very fetish style harness that stars were donning. The set sold designer wise for $3800.00 They wanted me to make the buckles look old. I told them I would not do it identical to that but better. Well my price was $1k. She practically died. I said to her that was inexpensive considering none of the original harness was lined. If she was wearing it over bare flesh at least it wouldn't chafe. She decided she didn't want it and then two years latter wanted it done. I told her the price was now $3k as the price of leather had gone up and it had. No, she didn't get it.
  18. Should ask her if she would pay that for a Versace, Gucci, or Louis Vutton. Then say, this is ten times better because it is handmade. Not in a factory with children getting paid 5 cents a day.
  19. I always take 100% up front on a custom build and i state on my website, no refunds or remakes unless I did it wrong.
  20. As I have been doing this over 40 years. I am entitled to the rates I charge. Which is equal to what I made at my last job, only I enjoy this more. Now for that belt I would probably charge between $250 and $350. I live in Canada and everything is more here. If they want custom they need to pay custom. If you don't respect your work enough to charge the appropriate price then no one will think it is worth it. Keep up the great work. It is a great belt.
  21. What I do when I start a job is when I start to do it I record the time. When I take a break, I record the time, When I start again and so on. Then when I am done I add it all up and you will have how long it took you. Say cutting out was an hour, putting it together and dying it another hour. You have two hours.
  22. Welcome to the best leatherwork site on the net. Love some of the designs on your leather. It looks good, although the colour is so bright on everything it is hard to tell. I figure it was your camera. Anyways, come hang out in the chat room with us sometimes. Lots of us go there joke around and talk leather, answer questions.
  23. I charge $25-30 per hour, then price of goods plus 40% markup. It is okay to make money off of family and friends. Remember this was custom and custom is 3-4 times higher than buying off the rack.
  24. I did not we had an adult section. Could you kindly put me in it also. Thanks.
