I do, Gump, the thing is the woman there was such a bitch I would not go back. However, they have gotten rid of her so I will be going back there.

I love these, great job. The tourmaline is beautiful, the dark blue you said has gold flakes sounds like blue gold stone. I would dump the yarn and you can use coloured lace and lace around the edges. A nice mexican round braid lace or anything would be better than the yarn. The yarn is going to wear and fray then it will look crappy.

Welcome to the best darn site on the internet. I would move heaven and earth to keep those things if I were you. Not just because of the sentimental value but the fact it would cost a fortune to replace them. Also the quality of some of those machines is far beyond what you get today with some of them. Don't let anyone who is NOT a leather worker talk you out of them. The thing is it may become more than a hobby to you once you have them all. Perhaps it is more feasible to move a bit at a time instead of all together.

Some Bright Chaps
leatherwytch replied to broncobuster's topic in Clothing, Jackets, Vests and Chaps
Those are the coolest chaps ever. I guess it was the guys way of supporting those with breast cancer. I would be very impressed with the cowboy who would wear those at the Calgary Stampede. You have given me a thought. I bet I could make super hero chaps with the yolk being done say in batman, superman or wonder woman type emblems and colours -

She made those the right size for that customer. It is chinks that are shorter. I may have to make myself ones like that and prance around town...lol -
Their tooling leather the last while has been beyond dreadful, I won't even buy it. I don't have a lot of choice up here and with the falling Canadian dollar it makes bringing from the US very expensive.

Actually the surprised for me was when they told me at tandy that they were getting most of their leather from China.

My First Figure Carving And Mexican Basketweave Attempt
leatherwytch replied to mrbeebs23's topic in Figure Carving
What a wonderful job. He is so adorable. I can't tell with the basket weave but it looks good. It is one of my favorite lacing techniques.- 6 replies

silverwingit, I totally agree with you, that is why I said what i did. I like yourself have worked my whole life three jobs at a time, I am still doing that. I was appalled that he would say such a heinous thing. It was not called for, not being discussed and he needs to open his narrow mind and think before inserting both his big feet.

The non glossy is matt or satin shene
-
I like super shene but then I like shiny. Have you tried Satin shene? Use the spray and save yourself problems. I don't use mink oil because it will take the finish off. I also don't use fieblings. I prefer the water stains, and pro dyes. All dyes and stains will come off a tad but not a lot. Do not use rubbing alcohol.

I am a little confused by the comment made about welfare recipients. I never saw where, Glen, said that was his target sales audience.I am also confused how one would know how much a person on welfare receives unless they are on welfare. I doubt people on welfare as much as they may love tooled items could afford them and I strongly doubt if they are getting medical benefits those would be considered medical aides. Some people have spouses that work and they probably have even better medical benefits than those on welfare and I bet they get to go fishing because they can afford the bait. I doubt other college students can buy lovely tooled items because they are no better off than welfare recipients. So, perhaps small items like key fobs, bracelets, luggage tags, eye patches (yes, like a pirate) may be good things to get up on your Etsy site too, Glen. Little Items are great as gifts for oneself or others and don't require a lot of work or money. Then maybe student and welfare recipients can buy them too.

I am about to throw my hat into your belt ring. It is a lovely belt and people looking for that type of belt will buy it. This is how your price your work. The cost of goods, all of them +Then how much your time is worth per hour+40% mark up= total. Now is your belt lined. I could be wrong but it didn't look lined to me. Lining a belt prevents it from stretching out of shape. You are not over priced on that belt. Now it may take a while for the perfect customer to come and buy it but they will come. Put it all over your social media. You may take up making messenger bags and purses they will sell faster. Best of luck/.

I have done leather sculptures with a substance called Paverpol. You can use any natural substance material like cotton, silk, leather to do these and also pictures out of it. It is very similar to what one would call leather mache. it is messy and if you get it on your clothes and they are natural it is not coming off. It makes the statue eco friendly and they can survive outside in any kind of weather.
