  1. Will I live to be 80? Sometimes you just have to ask yourself ' Will I live to be 80?' I recently chose a new primary care physician. After two visits and exhaustive lab tests, he said I was doing 'fairly well' for my age. A little concerned about that comment, I couldn't resist asking him, 'Do you think I'll live to be 80?' He asked, 'Do you smoke tobacco or drink alcoholic beverages?' 'No,' I replied. 'I don't do drugs, either' Then he asked, 'Do you eat rib-eye steaks and barbecued ribs?' I said, 'No, my other doctor said that all red meat is unhealthy!' 'Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing golf, boating, fishing or relaxing on the beach?' 'No, I don't,' I said. He asked, 'Do you gamble, drive fast cars, or have a lot of sex?' 'No,' I said. 'I don't do any of those things.' Then he looked at me and asked, 'Then why do you give a %$#@&*?'
  2. Great bag overall and those edges certainly add to and show off the high quality work. One to be proud of, for sure. Regis
  3. Just amazing work of art!
  4. I sure would not like to see LW.net evolve into some store front. That would take all the appeal out for me. This is a meeting place for folks of many skills. Everyone has their reason to WORK leather Those here work for personal enjoyment even though it may be their source of livelihood, extra income, or hobby. For those of us that sell some or all of what we make there are many avenues. I wish that LW.net would stay the pure helpful meeting place of leather artists and a place to show all skill levels from expert to growing newcommer. If you so choose, let etsy, other web sites, brick & mortar stores, and craft/art/gun/horse shows be the sales area. Keep LW.net as great as the early formers like Clay, Bruce, Kate, Johanna and others along with hundreds of participants have made it. my 2c, Regis
  5. Kevin, Just wonderful work. What are the 2 leathers you are using and do you dye them or buy in color? Thanks, Regis
  6. I've used Fieblings Edge Kote off and on for the last year or so and was never real impressed with it untill this morning. I had always applied it, let it dry (I thought) and hand buffed. Then, as if I just dyed it, I'd put on beeswax and buff lot more with buffing wheel. Well, yesterday I put Edge Kote on a holster and had to leave it until this morning. When I hand buffed, WOW, it shined so smooth. Apparently it takes a lot longer to dry, even when it feels dry to the touch. If I had not learned that I probably would never have bought another bottle once I emptied what I have. Now, I will. Now, I'm wondering how many more products I may not be using right ....... so please post if you learn something like this. Regis
  7. Jordan, I just have to ad my complements on the idea, the design, and the work. Cool!!!

    new masks

... those pins on the full mask would hurt! Nice
  9. Here is a new design I'm trying. Didn't get gusset sewn in as well as I wanted to but. design seems to work. Formed holster is Veg 8/9. Purse body is veg 5/6 and gusset is goat 3/4 Cut out and formed: Finished purse Regis
  10. I seem to have that often and have to go back over. I think(?) I tilt the beveler against the cut and the bottom moves out. But, I don't catch it 'while' I'm tooling just after when I'm looking it over.
  11. Clay, Those are good descriptions for suggected use at Seigel (but, your link doesn't work). Is there a common leather that should not be used for items handled a lot by hand (bag, purse, wallet, keyfob, etc)? Thanks, Regis
  12. Mike, That is a really good term definition/reference sire BUT, doesn't help me much on uses or non-uses (don't know if that is a word). Regis
  13. There are leather types/names used frequently here and the only one that I know/use very much is veg-tanned. It can be used for most anything, dyed and protected but, other types I just don't know. Could we have some discussion on the names and uses of different leathers. To start, what are the following leathers primarily used for AND what should they NOT be used for. AND how can we tell them appart COWHIDE --- Latigo - --- Chap - --- Chrome-tanned - --- Alum-Tanned - PIGSKIN GOATHIDE Thanks, Regis
  14. Very neat. I would like to see the stitch side.

    Eureka

V e r y...nice work. I need to mke one for my handmade flyrod. Your tooling and lettering are excellent.
  16. I like the way antiques darken cuts and tooling edges to highlight these areas. That works fine on medium to light base colors. Does anyone know of product/process to achieve the opposite results on dark. For example with a dark brown or black base apply something that would highlight cuts and tooling edges with a very light color?I'm not necessarily looking for white but, a light accent. Thanks, Regis
  17. Boom, Nice design and consistantly fine work. When you use a steel band, how close to the steel do you sew? Or, do you use thin enough guage that you sew through? Regis
  18. Very cool. Would like to see photo with arrows.
  19. Very GOOD points. Thanks, Regis
  20. Artisan has servo motors for $145.00 but, I wouldn't know about any adapters to fit your machine & table. They can probably help you.
  21. Anyone using a small airbrush spray booth? I'd like to know about how much draw there is in a "real" spraybooth. I want to make a simple spray booth and happen to have a working kitchen exhaust fan unit. Is the draw similar to a kitchen exhaust fan? Thanks, Regis
  22. I've only read good about them but, if I were you, I would use/test it FIRST at the seller's place before buying. Make sure YOU like it. Was he using for leather or canvas? If he bought it new and for personal use you probably did ok. I think I've seen some folks here on the forum that have one and can advise you better. You might post a question with Consew 206rb in the subject,
  23. Bill, Do you leave the gun/model in the holster until completly dry? And, I like the way you put web site name lightly across the photo......great idea.
  24. droff, Just regular $19 kit/set from Tandy for line 20 & 24. #8105-00 I do need to order better/stronger snaps than the ones from TLF.
  25. Very nice work. Great detail (press??). Must be a snug fit for the clips. Did you do belt too? If so, what weight leather and linning for the belt?
